Nice place to stay, big rooms and food good. I think I had bad luck where something was going on in bar downstairs and I had to ask for music to be stopped 4am. No event, so unsure what was happening

We were given drink tokens at check in to use at the on site bar. When we got to the half full bar for dinner and drinks, the hostess looked me up and down before smuggly saying “We don’t serve walk-ins.”. My wife and I were dressed casually (jeans and a t-shirt), but so were several of the patrons seated at the bar. So I’m guessing it wasn’t a dress policy. I was later told that the bar/restaurant is sometimes reservation only during peak hours. If that was the case, the hostess’s method was a terrible way to tell a guest of her hotel about that policy. Definitely won’t be back.

I paid extra for a balcony and as I opened the elevator men were ripping up carpet painting and on ladders and scaffolding, right at the elevator. The smell was strong and chemical. At 8 am I heard buzz saws in the hallways. Not a 5 star experience. It would have been nice if they would have told us prior to booking that they were under construction. Maybe put us in a different area. Possibly discount the stay? I’ve stayed here many times. I wasn’t happy about the smell or noise.

Expedia, my wife could not check in to the RPH. I was not present so we were not able to use your service. Last time I will, get your info together. And RPH for a five star place the minimal savings with Expedia, and not letting my wife check in your kidding right. Ladies at the desk I told were nice but Mgr. Should have just let her check in with or with out a discount. But Expedia get it together.

Our 50th anniversary
The hotel was immaculate-clean. It was raining when we arrive and there was no valet or porter to take our luggage. We were cordially greeted and welcomed. Check-in was pleasant and prompt. We were offered an upgrade, but declined. The greeter made dinner reservations for us as it was our 50th anniversary. There were all of the necessities in our room except a coffee maker. The bathroom and shower are was updated. Not much to do in the hotel, but eat and sleep. I was expecting more. The library was cool and drafty. This is where the coffee is provided for guests in the morning.

Disappointed
Restaurant manager assured us that the food would be safe for celiac kids. It was far from it and the service staff had no idea about the dangers of a mistake. $60 breakfast was a nightmare. Bed was hard as a rock. Front desk staff was not helping when trying to discuss a night refund and then the manager of the hotel denied my request for a one night refund. They forced me to pay for a night we could no longer stay for. Overall very disappointed because the hotel came highly recommended. I will not be staying here again.

New Year’s
The desk staff was friendly and helpful. Our only negative comment was lack of a bell hop. We were told it was “unfortunate planning” that valet service was unavailable on Mondays. We had valeted our car the day before and unable to locate where it was parked. Desk staff had to step in.

pleasant recommended place to stay
Got a room away from the elevator. Quiet and you cannot hear the noises outside unless you are near the dumpster. then you cannot sleep in too late. need card key for elevator access. Parking was close to the building. very friendly staff. Close to where i needed to be and nothing else really around. I think the restaurant was even open christmas day as when we got back in the hotel we saw activity in there. rooms are older from the original days but clean. one bizarre thing is the shower head is so high up , a 9 ft person would be needed to adjust it but they installed a 2nd adjustable wand so you have 2 spray heads. Just a weird setup. tond of lighting and towels in the bathroom. Toilet is very low to the ground. plenty of closet space. fridge almost freezes things.
