Staff was great. Check in was easy. We needed a pet friendly room, fees were reasonable. A few things could have been cleaner & better. There were items left in the fridge from previous travelers, shower curtain should have been replaced, it was ripped and barely staying in the rod.,vinyl sitting chair had many crumbs n dirt along side & under cushion.

Check in was ok, once we saw our room we decided not to stay. Very outdated with a spring mattress. Room smelled like smoke. It would not have been possible to be comfortable in that room.

I understand that the air conditioning unit in your room was not functioning properly and the fan was running all night. I apologize for the inconvenience this caused. We are currently investigating this issue to ensure it doesn't happen in the future.I also apologize for the wet towel found in the fridge. Their computer system was down when I arrived. I waited 20 minutes to be helped. Once I got checked in…. I went to my room. It was not ready ned want made etc…. When I got to my second room and it wasn’t ready either…. Then they walked me over and the next room wasn’t ready and finally the fourth room was… I’m having nothing but issues with Expedia, I got a hotel for my wife in a Salem and she wouldn’t even check in because there was homeless people all around the hotel and the hotel appeared to be housing homeless as well and she felt completely unsafe! She went to another hotel and we paid for two hotels that night. I didn’t even comment on that because I knew it would fall on deaf ears…. Back in December there was a major storm and we couldn’t cross the pass to Bend. Couldn’t get to the hotel because of the roads and storm and paid for that hotel too and didn’t stay…. I’m about done with Expedia…. Very disappointed to say the least!

While we do greatly appreciate your feedback and will do everything we can to mitigate issues, such as system updates during check in. It appears that this system issue was also the reason for not having a list of clean and ready rooms at 3:00 am, and we apologize. The night staff has been instructed on how to properly handle a situation such as this in the future. Aside from the property issues, we cannot assist with issues at other hotels, like in Salem and rooms that are rented from Expedia or other online travel agencies. Those are issues that need to be addressed directly with Expedia. Expedia provides this form for addressing property related issues, and not as an overall Expedia review. Regardless, we hope that your experiences soon find an upward trend and that your stays here, or anywhere, booked through Expedia, another OTA, or directly through a property, are satisfactory and comfortable.Best Regards,

We booked and paid for a handicapped room with a King-sized bed on Expedia the night before our stay. When we got there, they didn't have any of these rooms available. They blamed Expedia for advertising a room that wasn't available and suggested I call Expedia. Not satisfied with their response. They should take responsibility for the goof-up. I won't be staying at this Red Lion, nor any of their others,

We at the Red Lion Coos Bay are saddened by this review. Upon researching the stated issue, I found that the guest that was to check out on the day of your arrival extended with our corporate reservations desk, and we had a maintenance issue in our other accessible king bed room. I was unaware of your experience until seeing this review, and will be discussing this and appropriate handling of this type of situation, with the desk agents. I am sorry that this issue was blamed on Expedia, however, there are frequent incidents where third party online travel agencies send over incorrect bookings, or incomplete bookings. This does not provide the desk agents the justification to cast blame, however, it just provides an opportunity to better serve you, the guest. I am deeply sorry that we failed to provide superior service for your stay and truly do hope that you will allow us the opportunity again in the future.Best Regards,

This property was a MOTEL. All of the rooms were only accessible from the parking lot. The online photos do not show the actual "hotel" only the lobby and the rooms. The dining room listed on the website was closed. The room was clean and once the heat was turned up the musty smell went away. Good value for the price.

Bathroom fan was broken, dusty, weather strip around the door degraded we could see outside. Bed was lumpy but tolerable for a night. When we called front desk twice noone awnsered. Lowered personal standard to no bugs, large room and a working toilet.

No Thrills Spacious Rooms
This is our favorite pet friendly hotel to stay at in the Coos Bay/North Bend area. It’s clean and the rooms are open & not cramped. Prices are generally fair for the area. Rooms are slightly dated, bathrooms are cramped & outdoor pool/hot tub not open in the winter. Free breakfast is continental. Nice doggy swag bag provided at check in.

I had stayed at this Red Lion several years ago. There was a restaurant and a night club with a comedy show. This time there was no restaurant or night club. In the morning I went for my free breakfast. I was told that the breakfast bags were gone when I got there at 7:30 am. I commented on this and was told that the bags had not been delivered for three weeks. Would I stay again. Probably, it was clean and staff was good. I was just disappointed in the changes.

Did not honor third-party reservation
They did not honor the reservation. They put us in their cheapest room and did not refund the difference. We reserved a king size bed and we were given a queen size bed. They said it was because we had a dog. I made the reservation for a dog friendly room with a king size bed. If they are not going to honor a third-party reservation then they should not take them. We were very disappointed. The staff was friendly but not apologetic or willing to work with us.

Upon arrival at check in time of 3pm we were told our room was not ready as it was still dirty and being cleaned. We had to wait another 20mins, which was interesting as there were hardly any other guests noted as the parking lot was practically empty & the hotel looked almost vacant. Upon day of departure we went out to breakfast but had taken our belongings with us but left our refrigerated food items stored in the in room fridge. Upon our return at 10am our room was already being cleaned and all our food had been tossed in the trash. They assumed we had “checked out”, as there were not personal belongings present. It is ironic we couldn’t check in due to room being dirty but yet we hadn’t formally checked out and our room was already being cleaned. We told the desk staff not a good process to just assume we checked out. They need to implement some process whereby maybe the guests should leave their key cards in the room so they know whether or not guests have checked out or not. Next time lesson learned for us, to possibly leave the Do Not Disturb sign posted so our room will remain ours until we actually check out.

The shower didn’t work. We were blamed for not knowing the night before we showered. Our fault for wanting to shower in the morning? The toilet would consistently bring stuff back up after being flushed. Staff couldn’t locate manager. No radios? No cell phones? The manager I did speak with had no authority to give a refund. In the end they credited me $25. Literally all we need from a hotel room is to sleep, shower and use the toilet. 1/3 (the beds) functioning with 5 people was no fun. $185 for the night divided by 5 guests is $37 each for the functioning room. Each guest received a $12 experience. I think they owe me at least another $100. Last time I stay at a Red Lion. The Wyndham in Newport was around the same price our next night. It was leaps and bounds better than the Red Lion in Coos Bay.

The room was kind of smelly. Risidual chemical, cleaning product. Lighting is not the best. Bathroom fan was super loud, was not separate from the light. No coffee offered with continental breakfast. The coffee maker in room was really dirty, didn’t even want to use to make coffee. People in neighboring room were extremely loud in late hours. Not able to sleep.
