Classe et charme à un prix plus que raisonnable
Élégant et magnifique. Quel plaisir de séjourner dans un hôtel pareil. Le siècle dernier j'avais dormir à Raffles à Singapour et à Eastern and Oriental à Penang, Malaisie, et je ne voulais pas rater l'occasion de dormir aussi à Galle Face. Nous avons dîner deux fois dans le Traveller's Bar, doucement rafraichis par le brise de l'Océan Indien. Le "petit" déjeuner était un buffet splendide. Des fruits tropicaux, et des plats Sri Lankais et "westerns." Personnel très accueillant. Grande chambre, et baignoire très agréable, surtout à la fin de la journée. J'espère y retourner.

Un pan d'histoire...
Hotel bien placé sur l'océan, ayant connu ses heures de gloire car bâti il y a plus de 150 ans, bref, l'hôtel historique de Colombo. La partie hôtellerie est très satisfaisante, les chambres sont agréables (nous avions une chambre avec grande terrrasse au niveau 2, les autres niveaux n'ayant pas de terrasse... Nous avons dîné au buffet le soir de notre arrivée : Buffet moyen, service déplorable et inefficace, attente pour les consommations, désorganisation générale, nourriture assez quelconque, et des plats horriblement épicés, alors que nous sommes dans un hôtel international, et que nous avons trouvé au long des 20 jours que nous avons passé au Sri Lanka des restaurants avec un niveau de qualité et des niveaux de plats épicés forts mais acceptables. On a l'impression que c'est un parti pris, pour faire local... La restauration à la piscine est au même niveau de service : désorganisé, inefficace, plats corrects, sans plus. Gentillesse certes, mais manque de professionnalisme criant... Donc au final, un hôtel à utiliser en transit, comme nous l'avons fait sur 2 nuits, pour visiter Colombo.

Si vous devez réellement rester sur Colombo, alors cet hôtel est top, super service, esprit coloniale avec une très belle deco. En revanche, la pollution et le bruit dès que vous sortez à l´extérieur vous agresses !

Escale tout confort et chargée d'histoire
Très agréable séjour dans ce lieu chargé d'histoire, au charme délicieusement suranné et où nous avons passé 3 très agréables nuits suite à notre vol long courrier en provenance d'Europe. Personnel très disponible et efficace, chambres confortables et sentant bon la cire des parquets anciens, buffets délicieux et renouvelés (qu'il s'agisse du petit déjeuner ou des dîners), grande piscine face à l'océan et très bien entretenue. En outre, ce petit détail qui nous relie à la grande histoire de ce lieu : la montée et la descente du drapeau national, tous les matins et soirs, au son de la cornemuse et face aux embruns. Un grand frisson...

Très bel hôtel, service parfait, et très bon restaurant. Le seul problème rencontrait est l'humidité dans les chambres, qui était aussi visible parfois dans le lobby. Nous pensons que cela est dû au temps.

Fantastique hotel face a la mer entieremen renove!
Superbe hotel historique. Le bar et un des restaurant donnent directement sur la mer. Le service est tres courtois, rappelant les heures de gloire de l'empire britannique. A distance de marche de certaines attractions tourisriques (ex, the Dutch Hospital). Le buffet su matin (plats continentaux et locaux) vaut son prix. Les chambres sont spacieuses, sucreries/chips/eau/jus/the gratuits dans la chambre. Bref, un sejour de revs. Mon seul hic: je n'avais pas de vue de ma chambre mais n'en ai paa trop souffert...

This stay was a step back in time with all the modern conveniences and amenities. The staff is amazing and helpful with our greatest experience with concierge help, Emmanuel. The breakfast buffet did not disappoint. The on site bars and restaurants were top notch. Don’t miss the historical photographs in the bar. Amazing experience and we look forward to returning soon.

The rooms and hotels are great. Staff is very nice & the pool area is beautiful. I stood twice at 2 different rooms & it’s pretty neat and clean. The only flaw I encountered which was very disappointing is the stained bed sheets in junior sweet. Buy new sheets for crying out loud! It wasn’t even a standard room but a suite!

Nice old colonial style hotel on the beach but charmless staff at reception spoilt the visit - we said good evening mr and mrs ourname checking in the best they could come up with was “passports” and it did not get better. Communication with the hotel prior to arrival was very poor. Lots of work on this needed.

The hotel is lovely and very traditional. The staff are very attentive and always welcoming. The pool area however requires upgrading as the flooring is broken in several places and is a safety hazard.

Our second stay at the Galle Face - once you have stayed there you won’t want to stay anywhere else in Colombo. The hotel is set right on the beach front with a fabulous 30 m sea salt pool A qualified lifeguard is always on duty- a big thank you to Aja for welcoming us back to the pool and sunloungers -a top spot! Happy Hour cocktails on the hotel green to watch the sun go down while the flag is lowered and the bagpipes play - perfect start to the evening. Dine then on the open terrace with a fantastic choice of Sri Lankan and international cuisine. Several bars on site to choose from after this Highly recommend this hotel

Wunderschönes Hotel im Kolonialstil. Sehr leckeres Frühstück mit viel Auswahl. Da ist für jeden was dabei. Die Zimmer waren auch sehr schön eingerichtet, allerdings sind die Möbel doch ein wenig veraltet aber das hat uns nicht gestört.

A historic hotel with a wonderful verandah, bar, and pool overlooking the Indian Ocean. Rooms and hallways are a bit shabby. Staff superb.
