Description

Depart from Lisbon to enjoy a private tour of UNESCO-listed Porto, the 2nd-largest city in Portugal and one of the oldest Europe. Explore a number of the city's most impressive architectural highlights before sampling port wine and choosing to ride a boat on the Douro.

Get picked up from your hotel in Lisbon and travel to Porto, an ancient coastal settlement dating back to the days of the Roman Empire. Wander the city's UNESCO-listed city centre with your private guide, admiring remnants of the city wall, the regal Avenida dos Aliados, the marvellous murals inside Sao Bento Train Station, the Baroque Clerigos Tower, and the endlessly enchanting Livraria Lello & Irmão, one of the greatest book shops in the world.

Eat lunch before heading into a port wine cellar—“port” wine is named for Porto—and enjoy a sample of the city's famed wine. Before heading back to Lisbon, choose to enjoy a boat ride through the city on the Douro River.

It is a 2:30 hours from Lisbon but definitely worth the ride. Our guide and driver was Rui (AKA RRR), a young but knowledgeable guy who made of our journey a pleasant and unforgettable experience. After enjoying the beautiful countryside landscaping of Portugal we arrived to Porto. Visiting Calem cave was a highlight of our visit. We had a scrumptious lunch at Adega São Nicolau and after a cup of coffee he drove us to the must see points in the city: Clérigos Tower, Del Carmo Church and the Carmelita Church. The tile mural on the side of the church and then watching the ones at Porto train station are breathtaking experiences, not to mention the visit to that jewel which is the Lello bookstore (one of the inspirations of J K Rowling for her Harry Potter series)

Our guide Filip was very knowledgeable, friendly and very good. He, along with Rui made our trip very enjoyable. They went out of their way to help some members of the group with transport to get back to Lisbon because of an emergency
