Beautiful and comfortable hotel with historic features. The location was convenient for downtown locations, although this area was a little quiet. However, there were good transport links within easy reach of the hotel.

It is very close to the St. Louis arch National Park and is very convenient to down town St. Louis, Lots of dining option around but there is no parking on the premises and it is just so expensive since to have to pay $38/night for self parking at a nearby garage and $48 plus tip for valet parking. The rooms are too small for a two queens that you can’t open the closet door without bumping into the bed. No breakfast nor complementary bottled water (bottled water is available to certain levels of HiltonHonors members only). Other than that it is perfectly nice and convenient!

Ate breakfast at your little restaurant. Service was slow BUT our waitress was wonderful. (She wasn't slow...getting served our food was slow.) Room was very clean and nice.

This hotel was beautiful! It had a glamorous lobby and dining room. There was a convenient snack station. The room was very clean and had a beautiful decor with old world charm. The only things I disliked was there was no microwave in the room and the morning shower was warm not hot.

We enjoyed our stay. The property is very ascetically pleasing, clean, and the staff friendly and responsive. The location is very convenient and parking was easy. Only suggestion for improvement is the bar, if I'm paying for a premium drink ($15 ) it would be nice to have a tasty drink in the correct glassware; not just whatever is currently clean.

Conrad Hilton, were he alive, would rescind the Hilton name from the property. No trashbins in the room, the staff when i gave back the room card was so sullen they didnt talk, no tissues in room, shower curtain ripped, water pressure set at firehose level. Stay elsewhere.

Daniel,I am so sorry for your poor experience while staying as our guest. When I saw this, I immediately put the room out of service and went to take a look myself. We have replaced the shower head and hung a different shower curtain. In the future, please dont hesitate to let us know in the future if there is ever anything that we can do to improve your stay. We would have gladly addressed this on the spot. Nonetheless, I feel horrible that you were left with such an impression of the Pennywell. I hope you are willing to give us another try the next time you are in St. Louis.

Dear Matthew,Thanks for reaching out to us with a great 5 star review. Im sorry that you felt parking was a bit too expensive. Our parking charge is in the same range as all downtown hotels that have a gated, secured garage. While I understand it is a cost that many guests dont want to incur, we never force our guests to use the garage across the street or valet. Our guests always have a choice of where to park, but in order to be in a covered, gated, and secure garage in a downtown location, there is a premium that comes with that. The garages downtown are not typically owned or managed by the hotels themselves, they just provide a safe, nearby option. We appreciate the feedback. Next time you visit us, we would be happy to let you know where there are on-street options where you can pay a meter, but it typically requires you to wake up early to feed the machine before the meter maids start their rounds. Let us know if you would like some other options next time; we would be provide those options.

We had a great time staying at the Pennywell. We stayed here in St. Louis to visit Gateway Arch as well as attend a Blues game. Gateway Arch is a few minute walk from the hotel- super convenient! The area was very quiet and felt safe. The hotel itself was beautiful and all of the staff were so friendly. Would definitely stay here again!

Nice, clean hotel. The lobby atmosphere was great. Took off 1 star because the room fixtures were outdated. Could see wear and tear on older lamps with no USB charging, etc. Paid parking only either in the garage across the street or through the hotel valet.

Dont trust the pictures
Upon arrival, our greeting was so subpar it immediately set a bad tone. Not one smile or thank you for joining us, Barely made eye contact, gave very rude one word answers to our questions about valet, breakfast & incidentals. Could not be bothered to shut off her personal phone & had it playing while checking us in. All bathroom exhaust fans in hotels were not working according to maintenance. The down comforter as was extremely light & worn out. When I called the front desk to ask for another one (decided i could layer them), I was met with the same poor rude attitude female front desk attendant. Was brought another worn out rough dry waffle blanket. Explained to housekeeping for another comforter & was brought again another worn dull comforter. And not to mention the view. I am aware that i did not pay nor request a view, but when i pulled back our drapes, i was met with an alley/view other sode of hotel. To say i was disappointed would be nice. We decided to stay in a boutique hotel for the experience over a typical chain hotel but this makes us secound guess our next travels.

Parking spots are bigger, and you can walk right into the front doors of our hotel from the valet lane. :)
