Very nice hotel great location. The only negative was having to pay $9 to park at the hotel. But overall good experience.

I was physically threatened by the front desk rep

Publié le 21 janv. 2016
Les + : the rooms
Les - : staff, ownership of issues, professionalism
Hotel stay was fine, minus kids running around the hotel till 2AM one night. The issue came when I needed a late check out. I went to down to front desk the day before check out and asked for late check out, they offered me 3pm for $25. I accepted, the clerk said he would charge it to my room. The next day at 3pm we went to front desk to check out and pay with a different credit card, the clerk said check out was at noon, and told me I was lying, she was very condescending and rude and when I asked for the manager, she told me to go find him..Needless to say I was shocked and at this point getting mad. She continued escalating and then threatened to beat me up, hurt me and a few other things that came out of her mouth. Another clerk stepped in and told me I she refused to give me the bill/summary of my stay due to my behavior ..long story short I had to leave, without my bill. I happened to run into the manager as I was leaving, I told him what happened, he apologized, took my info and said he would get me the bill ASAP. Four hours later I still didn't have my bill/summary but my cc was charged,so I called Hilton HQ and filed a formal complaint. That complaint went to the GM of the hotel, and it has been 2 days and I still haven't heard anything. This is UNIMAGINABLE, APPAULING, and UNEXCEPTABLE. This isn't the Motel 6, although I guarantee their employees would not act like this! Be prepared to fight at this hotel if their staff is having a bad day.

We stayed in a kind suite with our three young kids. The separate room with a hide-a-bed and TV worked great for us. We had a little more privacy and weren't walking on top of each other, feeling more like home than a hotel. Due to time of arrival we decided to eat at the hotel restaurant and found it satisfactory with fair prices and much easier than trying to get outside food. Of course the kids wanted to swim in the indoor pool which was a smaller size and 5' deep, which was great for us.

Christmas Ski trip

Publié le 29 déc. 2015
Les + : The rooms were very comfortable, really spacious, fitted with minibar, microwave, and a small sink, very convenient when you dont want to go out.
Les - : Maybe more pillow options in the room, I prefer firmer ones than the ones available in the room. But in all fairness I never really asked for options.
Situation : Temple square, which was so beautifuly decorated for Christmas is a 5 mins drive, there are great restaurants and bars within the same distance.
My wife and I, booked a very last minute trip to Salt Lake City in order to do some skiing and avoid staying at home during a long weekend we had considering it was the Christmas weekend. The hotel was a perfect fit to all of our needs, the staff was always helpful and very easy to approach at the front desk, shuttle from the airport, bars, restaurants, etc. The hotel is very conveniently located, its within a 5 minute drive to great restaurants, temple square and all the downtown amenities. For us the main destination were the nearby ski resorts, so Brighton, Alta, Solitude, etc are just within 30 to 40 minutes drive from the hotel.

I was disappointed upon check in ..they had no cookies. Upon check out the next morning I had to wait 15 minutes for a cookie. Other than that it was fantastic.

Huge king suite at a small price

Publié le 5 déc. 2015
Les + : Everything - room, shuttle, staff, location.
Les - : My only criticism is the noodles I was served were mushy.
Situation : The location is 15 minutes from the airport and near everything downtown if you're interested in exploring the city.
Decor was tasteful and updated, rooms were quiet, room service food excellent and delivered quickly. There's also a free airport shuttle during certain hours -- you call after landing and collecting baggage, and they pick you up. Upon checking in, you get a warm cookie. I booked a room for an overnight stay while waiting for my flight to London. The best deal was a King suite, though I didn't need this much room. Everything was huge and exceeded my expectations - bed could have fit six of me, the living room had a desk, full sofa and wet bar plus a mini fridge, microwave and hot water and coffee station. Bigger than some apartments I've stayed in! The bathroom had nice touches, such as a muted light over the bathtub if you wanted to take a bath, and there were lots of amenities so a normal traveler wouldn't need to bring much. I would stay here again if given a choice.

Just Barely Outside Downtown

Publié le 27 nov. 2015
Les + : Our room was a suite.
Les - : Towel racks or bars in the bathroom. Better layout in the front room for watching the television.
Situation : The location is a short walk away from UTA TRAX, which goes around downtown for free and many places in the valley for not much, pay in advance.
The Doubletree is just a short walk or drive away from the beginning of downtown Salt Lake City. It is about 2 blocks from the Courthouse stop of TRAX (UTA), where a person can hop on and get a ride for free to the other downtown stops. Beyond those, you'd need to pay before boarding. The one thing I like most about Doubletree is that the rooms are suites, not just a wall around a bed with a small bathroom on the side. The front room is a comfortable size for reading, visiting, or watching television. The bedroom is large enough to accommodate the bed or beds and dresser, table, and chair. The chocolate chip cookie they hand out at check-in is a nice touch, but not a game changer for me. The parking is three levels with a single entrance and exit, managed by automatic gates. The ticket that comes out when you first pull in is your ticket in and out for the duration of your stay. All was clean when we arrived and it was a pleasant stay, over all. Pros: 1. Easy access to and from the freeway. But, be aware those are one-way streets. Exiting from the freeway, stay in the left lane, turn left into the driveway just before you get to the intersection with West Temple. When you leave, when it is clear, make a left turn onto West Temple from the driveway from the parking lot, stay in the left travel lane and make a left turn at the first intersection with 5th South. Cons: 1. Parking costs extra per night. 2. Breakfast costs a lot extra. 3. Not quite downtown.
