I didn't like anything about this hotel as soon as I walked in the first thing I noticed there were like 20 to 30 people on the counter just standing there we had to wait for like an hour to check in after we checked in we had to wait another hour to get a room and we arrive like around 3:30 and they gave us a room around 4:45 because they said the room wasn't ready after we went to a room we had a list that we have to go through to check and make sure that everything is there otherwise they will charger you if you didn't check the list and something is missing the safe box you have to pay $3 a day to use the safe box another thing there is no internet in the room you have to pay $7 for 1 hour or pay $45 for a week around from 11:00 to 12:00 there is nothing to eat anywhere the food was always the same thing even though they said it was from a different culture. I can go on and on with a lot of things

This is my 4th visiting this resort. We love the people and the atmosphere. This trip we did not have warm water in our room the entire week. Our first room was very moldy smelling and the sliding glass door to the balcony did not lock. We were moved to another room after several requests to get the door fixed without any response.

Honestly one of the best resorts I’ve ever stayed at I would of gave them 4 stars but we had some room conflicts during check in but overall the place was great food was excellent my husband was so happy with the food and all the staff were very accommodating I loved them Dominican Republic is by far my favorite place to visit can’t wait to come back definitely a hidden gem!!!! 💕💕

The beach is beautiful and the cabanas are fun! The service was always friendly despite the language barrier. There are some issues though. The power went off at least a dozen times during our week stay. We had to change rooms because of the musty smell and the AC didn’t work. Our friends also had to change room’s because they didn’t have any hot water. I heard that from many guests also. Two of the 4 people that we were traveling with got very sick. They didn’t drink the water, we assume it was from the food/drinks.

First, I reserved the superior room with VIP inclusion, I called the hotel directly and asked to please orient me on what the package consisted of and what exactly VIP inclusion was. They said you have VIP access to beaches, bars and restaurants and just need to be a citizen - ok sounds good! day of arrival check in was suppose to be 3pm room received after 5pm in the meantime getting an attitude from the staff and sending me to the bar. What a frustration! So I was super tired, sticky and wanted my room. Finally get to the room, asked for pool view and got gazebo view in the yard. I tried to take a shower watered leaked out the shower due to the broken shower head that sprinkled and not enough for a full shower, put towels to soak floor, expected to sleep cool, the ac is controlled by them, meter in room you change the temperature to cool no difference. I put the fan on off in the meter still going. Set meter to the lowest temperature room was still muggy and humid. Asked neighbor and said the same! Tried to reserve a VIP restaurants and the staff says it’s booked return in the morning. Next morning booked too only the Thai was available and they pick the time Ridiculous! If not too eat at the buffet. Everything is for VIP members all others treated like trash. Drinks were bad and food was ok not great. Blamed it on Expedia and that they do false advertisement. Do not recommend and will never return! I’ve been to similar resorts even cheaper and not like this experience!

The grounds are expansive, the staff are very helpful and kind, but that’s about the limit of good things I can note. If not for staff I would give 1 star. There was never hot water in the room, the WiFi in room never worked, the rooms are not superb and need updating. The bed was terribly uncomfortable. A nice guy came at 2am and added about 3 duvet covers and that helped. Like I said staff are great. I moved to an adjacent but connected resort, which is supposed to be lower quality, but was better in every way. Do your research. You will always have fun in DR even if your hotel choice falls flat!

What I like about the Tropical is a Good resort, clean and quiet. What I did not like about it, it has limited entertainment and everything a little bit far apart.

Excellent staff & customer service. They make you feel welcome at all times. Although i witnessed the property being well maintained on the exterior, the rooms could use a little TLC. Overall, me and the family had a great time. I would recommend this vacation spot.

Property was okay parking. If you have your own vehicle, just be warned is about a quarter mile away downhill very inconvenient. Now what I didn't like is the bed. It appeared to me that the box spring was there but there was no mattress. I kid you, not that bed was hard on my body and after a week I am sore. The staff in the restaurant are very nice and very quick. To bring you your drinks and anything else you would need. If you have problems with your knees and walking, I do not recommend this resort. Everything's on a slope I only made it down Almost to the beach one time. Pools looked nice People seem to have a good time. I could never find the theater with the entertainment in the evening. Mostly because the place is so big and I was told only owners get golf carts.

First off for the money it is great. What they do not put in the description is that depending on what color wrist bands you have verys the access to certain amenities and places allowed on the resort. You can also not upgrade. They will also try to sell and pressure you into a time share. With that said the property could use updating (which looks like it is slowly starting). Staff is friendly food is good. If you want to eat anything other than buffet you will need to make reservations. Make them when you get there because they fill up fast. The beach is not great. There are a lot of activities to do around Puerto plata. Rooms were ok.

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY HERE....Worst resort EVER. For starters, you have to pay $$ for WiFi, which is the worst. We were there for 7 days, and we could only eat at the buffet because you had to make reservations for ALL of the restaurants and we were not able to reserve at any of them because they were booked every time we went. The only thing we liked was the VIP Beach. The pool water looked dirty. Showers were dirty (moldy). The staff is not the best, but some of them were nice. I could keep going but I don't have the time to do so.

We stayed at this hotel for 4 days and in the room it had so much roaches !!!!! I kept killing me when we turn off the light at night an turn it back come it’s a bunch of them scarring I went to the bathroom and seen one on the toilet and running on the sink area !! I was just over it didn’t make sense changing the room because it seem like all the rooms are the same

This this Resort is the worst experience a person can have. First of all, they don't let you enter the property before the check-up time arrives, you have to stay outside the property. There is no hot water, there is no air conditioning, the people are classist and treat you badly when you ask for a beer or some service in the all-inclusive the all-inclusive is terrible because they treat you badly when you ask for something. Don't go to that hotel, they are racist, they only serve white people and they only smile at them.

What I purchase was not what I was given. They have several hotel with different category. I purchase one hotel with a king bed and the provided 2 full beds. When I requested the room change they gave me a room with a broken toilet and no hot water. After they could not fix the hot water they gave us another room. I went for a limited amount of day and wasting several hours in all the changes was very inconvenient. Afterwards getting things sorted, we had a great time.

We had a amazing time! Property was beautiful and staff was great! Bring your walking shoes the property is huge! The room was okay, maid service was perfect! Everone we met was friendly.. We cant wait to go back! We did uograde to vip witch is the way to go if you can

From 1 to 10 my rate for this resort will be a 4 the place to assert extent is OK, I feel like they’re entertainment should be better Also, the recruiting crew are really press about you becoming a member they are constantly harassing you about taking a tour that ends at the headquarters for you to become a member. I feel like when you are on vacation it’s for you to relax. Therefore, if you’re constantly getting harassed to take a tour for you to become member it’s a little annoying.

I enjoyed the food and the pleasant atmosphere of the area. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, however, the only issue I encountered was the hardness of the bed. I wanted to sleep in it so badly, but my body ached at night, possibly because I am used to a softer mattress. The service at the restaurant was great, with some waiters being especially friendly and accommodating. I’m coming back!
