Très bel endroit plein de charme et d'authenticité. Seul bémol l'isolation phonique. Les chambre donnent sur la coursive et la cour du restaurant. Une tablée de 8 personnes très bruyante et ce malgré un coup de téléphone passée à la réception pour leur demander de baisser leur volume sonore. J'ai dû intervenir par moi même pour qu'elles cessent. Dommage.

Tres bien situé
cadre agréable, service de qualité. Les chambres sont propres et décorées simplement, mais avec goût. D'une manière générale l'hôtel est bien entretenu mais l'accumulation de petits détails pourtant très simples à régler (un robinet à resserer, un volet à revisser, une ampoule à changer, etc) donne une légère impression de laisser aller. C'est dommage car un simple tournevis suffitrait à gommer ces petits défauts. Le principal regret est la taille des lits simples, beaucoup trop courts et trop étroits! si vous faites plus de 1.80m, vous serez malheureux.

Chambre collee a la cuisine: donc bruit de vaisselle le soir jusqu'à 23h. Petit déjeuner très moyen et buffet non réapprovisionné: il n'y avait quasiment plus rien a 9h15... Tres Belle chambre, mais literie inconfortable et salle de bain vieillotte. L'hôtel en lui même est aussi très joli, avec un éclair très agréable

Hotel charmant, bien situé. Très jolies chambres anciennes. Personnel accueillant. Les banquettes de la salle a manger en plein air n'etaient pas propres et les travaux de renovation de l'immeuble jouxtant l'hotel très bruyant dès le petit dejeuner.

Nous avions repéré cet hôtel de France sur votre site internet. A notre arrivée, très agréable surprise avec cette réception et restaurant qui sont en plein air. Dés l'arrivée dans notre chambre, la décoration est fait avec soin, le style coloniale est bien présent et tout est très raffiné. En ce qui concerne la restauration, prix correct et bonne nourriture. En ce qui concerne l'emplacement, très centrale, j'ai pu visiter tout Pondicherry à pied, en plein quartier français... Le seul problème est qu'une maison d'hôte vas ouvrir sur l'immeuble voisin de l'hôtel,ce qui tout les matins à partir de 6h, nous avions la joie des marteaux piqueurs... Heureusement, nous finissons notre séjour en Inde à l'hôtel The Dune Hôtel, ou c'est un havre de paix en pleine nature... A voir... Juste s'assurer des travaux avant le séjour sinon rien à dire....

Le Dupleix is a nice boutique hotel in the French Quarter on a quiet street. It is an old bungalow that was supposedly used by the Governor. The hotel has built an excellent team of very friendly and guest service oriented staff who went out of their way to make my stay enjoyable. The kitchen team is extremely talented and all dishes were superbly cooked. The only thing that needs improvement is curbing the mosquito menace. Pondicherry is awash with mosquitoes and I was very concerned with picking up Dengue or some such infection. The team gave me Odomos & used a coil - to no avail. They could learn some protocols used in forest retreats like spraying citronella & lemongrass to keep mosquitoes away without leaving a bad odour in the premises.

A well run Hotel
A hotel with a lot of history, located in the centre of White town within easy walking to most of the attractions of Pondicherry. Front desk staff are both friendly and professional with a can do attitude whenever we had a problem they were always happy to help. The room was spacious and well maintained with a comfortable bed, tea /coffee, fridge and in room safe , Mini our house keeper was always on hand if we needed anything, (much appreciated Mini) We ate dinner in the hotel several times and found everything of a high standard. Breakfast was also Excellent again the service was first rate. Good luck to the new manager you have a good team. We had a very good six days and will use again if and when we are back in Pondicherry would definitely recommend. Dave and Sally Yorks

Beautiful heritage mansion in a convenient location. The room was clean and well-maintained. We did have to climb two flights of stairs to get there - something to note if you are traveling with seniors! Das Dupeix liegt schön zentral, nur 3 Minuten von der Promenade entfernt. Man kann alles Wesentliche zu Fuß erreichen. Beim check in um 14:00 (offizielle check in Zeit) war unser Zimmer nicht fertig, wir waren etwas enttäuscht und man bot uns ein angeblich identisches Zimmer an. Das erschien uns sehr klein und wir bestanden auf unser gebuchtes Zimmer, das tatschlich ca 50% grösser war! Kleine „Verarschung“? Wir mussten 30 Minten warten und man fragte höflich, ob wir einen Wunsch hätten - ja, 2 Kaffee aufs Haus wären nett - das verneinte man aber! Beim morgendlichem Duschen stand uns immer nur kaltes Wasser zur Verfügung, der Service im Restaurant war nett, aber alles nur im Schneckentempo. Auf den Gängen standen den ganzen Tag Essensreste an den eigentlich schönen Sitzplätzen herum, im Restaurant hielt man es nicht für nötig, die alten Servietten und Gläser der vorherigen Gäste abzuräumen oder gar den Tisch für uns abzuwischen - sehr schade- hoffentlich liest das Management diese Bewertung. Besseren Service und Top- Essen haben wir zb in Villa Santhi erlebt- nächstes Mal.

Pleasant hotel with good food. Our room was large but bed was uncomfortable and there was a lot of noise from the street. The room was also very dark with not much lighting. Also no English style plugs. overall disappointing.

The property needs to be refurbished. The hotel is surrounded by two other properties that are undergoing major construction - so it is dusty with no natural light in the room. The laundry came back with the white t-shirts stained in multiple colours.

The building from outside looks good, but the room are not cleaned, the water is cold no hot showers, tv do not work, poor plumbing as toilet does not flush. I was very disappointed, as the staff is friendly, but I will not go back to this property again.

Look elsewhere, does not live up to reputation
For being one of the more expensive options in town, we expected much more. Our top floor room with frosted glass walls was dark and incredibly swampy. The mattress was uncomfortable and the sheets/pillows were moist from the humidity in the room. The shower was really gross with a dirty/moldy plastic mat, no hand towels, and almost zero water pressure. There were dead/dying bugs all over the room and an overwhelming chemical smell that gave me a headache. Breakfast was supposed to start at 7:30 but no one was around one of the mornings, and we paid extra for breakfast. Had dinner in the restaurant and it was just okay, nothing special and again, not worth the premium price compared to other restaurants in the neighborhood. Would not recommend this place to friends or family, particularly given the steep up-charge and the dismal state of maintenance. Service was well intentioned and everyone was generally friendly, but it's not enough to overcome the management issues.

Fantastic Heritage Hotel
Staying at Le Dupleix, a wonderfully restored heritage boutique hotel adds much to a trip to Pondicherry. Our room was spacious and comfortable and the hotel, while offering all the modern amenities, retains a very special French character and charm. The staff was always welcoming and friendly. It was a pleasure to return to the hotel after sightseeing or swimming at their sister property, Le Promenade. Mr. Prabu, the reception manager at Le Dupleix provided exceptional assistance, even locating a local jeweller who could repair a ring that I had purchased in Jaipur. To go to such lengths is an indication of Mr Prabu's desire to ensure that all aspects of a guest's stay are positive. We highly recommend Le Dupleix.

The location cannot be beat. The hotel has character. Perhaps too much character. The wifi is not very good. The attached restaurant is overpriced, but there are many nearby places that compensate for that. The room was in dire need of an update. The property was good aesthetically but was not maintained well. No 5star quality , creaking floor boards , nails on the floor boards which hurt us, not clean....bathtub was dirty. Renovations were going on which was not mentioned before booking. Smell of the kitchen was overpowering mostly at night. Noise of doors & furniture disturbed us at night. Overall was cheated with an exhorbitant non refundable amount.

Excellent design and the friendliest staff.
I spent two nights at Le Dupleix and I would certainly go back. The hotel is in a quiet street closet to the beach and is a wonderful mixture of contemporary design and antiques. The staff went out of their way to make me feel at home and immediately took care of whatever little thing I asked for. Such a lovely bunch of beautiful young people. They serve continental and Indian breakfast .The only thing that surprised me, and that you should be aware of, is that the room is all glassed in and the windows cannot be opened. The AC worked well and there are bamboo shades and curtains all around for privacy and light control, but I was looking forward to sleeping under a fan in the balmy south Indian nights. One pleasant surprise was that the same company owns another Hotel a few blocks away on the waterfront with pool and spa, and the Le Dupleix guests are invited to use their facilities as well.

My Dream of Indian Hospitality
This was the perfect place for my stay in India. It was quiet, near to everything and the staff felt like true friends. I was traveling alone and they looked after not only my needs but me personally. They helped with excursion reservations, directions and offered cultural explanations to my many questions. I felt they truly cared about me and I truly cared about them. I can't say enough about the warmth of their hospitality and the thoroughness of their service. The hotel is small which suited my need for quiet and simplicity. The rooms open to an airy covered courtyard circled by palms and greenery. You can sit on the verandas or in the restaurant and drink your morning tea with papers. The included breakfast is diverse and generous. The restaurant served really good Indian food and is open to the public. The surrounding neighborhood is the old section of Pondicherry built by the French. The streets are tree-lined and safe and fairly empty of traffic. My room was large and decorated simply with period pieces. Everything was clean and well-kept, inside and outside. I will definitely stay here on on my next trip Pondicherry, a city top on my list of travel loves.

Pondicherry was a bit of a let down. Except for the names of the streets, there really wasn't much French about the town. I expected cafes and bistros. There were none. Even the promenade was a let down. In the evening, there were thousands of people walking on the promenade but there weren't quaint restaurants to sit and people watch. The hotel was nice enough. The air conditioner worked well and was a welcome relief from the heat and humidity. The shower and toilet were a little funky in their open design. The breakfast was simple but sufficient--croissants were stale.
