The Montage is a fine property that is located in a beautiful valley to allow great scenic views. That said, price to stay infers that "fine" shouldn't be in this resort's vocabulary and overall the resort service was subpar even for a standard hotel. Few issues: As soon as we checked in, there was vibrating construction noise immediately above us; took 40 minutes to figure it out from hotel and then we were actually moved rooms. They upgraded room (good) and offered a meal credit that we never received (bad). During breakfast, there were 3 tables and 4 servers working, but our order was delayed for 35 minutes (without any word from a server). We had a ride scheduled a hour after we arrived, but due to delays only had 7 minutes to wolf down our food. (bad). Ultimately, we were comped a meal due to poor service (ok resolution, but totally avoidable). The pool staff forgot our food order (bad). Ultimately, we didn't have to pay for it (neutral, still hungry...). The areas around the building (such as the play area for kids) was just dirt graded without grass ($1000 of grass would make a huge difference). We had heard good things about Montage, but this was just a disappointment. For $1,000/night in the summer, there are MANY other options that we would revisit.

Awful
We frequent the montage where we live in laguna beach and we always have the best time with the best service and the best food. Montage deer valley fell extremely short of that to the point of utter disappointment. The only service that was great was the valet but we couldn’t even call down to get our car cause the phones in our room were broken. The service was non existent. The food, if it even made it to us, was terrible. I don’t recommend staying here. Or eating here. Or doing anything here.

1) Concierge lacked follow up. We were constantly following up to ensure bookings were correct. At times they weren't. 2) Housekeeping was hit and miss. On 2 occasions we had to leave the room as they did not come after a number of hours. Only once did they leave water so we had to go to the front desk to request. 3) Construction occurred all 5 days we were there next door to our room. Hammering and pounding for hours 4) Both bathroom sinks were clogged. Toilet was clogged the last night of our stay. They did not have the staff to fix it and left us completely in the dark for an hour from midnight - 1am. Finally they gave us a key to a room next door to utilize the restroom. Our kids were sick the last day so that was quite an adventure in the middle of the night 5) Reservation at Daly's restaurant was a nightmare. 20 minutes without anyone even greeting our table. Waitress took our table when it wasn't her section. Kid's buffet wasn't refreshed for 30 mins. Waitress comped beverages and kids buffet. Other occasions to stop in at Daly's was similar in the fact that the staff was overwhelmed and things took forever. 6) Called for in room dining the night before. The next day it was 45 mins late and only came after we called. IT was comped but was met with many excuses. When food arrived we were still missing items. 7) Rooms are dated. Usb ports and TV had issues 8) Good bell staff Staff was really nice; however, we were so disappointed in the lack of execution and service

Stay was wonderful! The only issues we had were that the beds were not as comfortable as expected in terms of bedding and pillows. Other Montage resorts (Palmetto Bluff and Laguna Beach) have more comfortable bedding. You need duvets, feather beds and more comfortable pillows. And, the air conditioning does not circulate air and blow hard enough so the room got warm at night. Often it was difficult to sleep. We love the customer service, amenities and cleanliness and maintenance! The room was nice and spacious. The employees were amazing! Our kids loved the activities! The shuttle service was wonderful. The food was expected for a resort such as this…we do enjoy the restaurants at Palmetto Bluff better though. I wish the prices were a little more reasonable and the food a little better quality with more options. Overall, we love this resort! Superb!

The room and view were great. The food at both restaurants was very good. We also enjoyed the nightly live music in the 6th floor fireplace area. The staff at the door/parking were very friendly and helpful.

Never Disappoints
Montage is always a heavenly experience. The property is absolutely stunning, every restaurant was tasty and delicious, even the pastries at the coffee bar were outstanding. The shops they had were great and the SPA!! The spa was absolutely wonderful!!! The rooms are gorgeous and the staff wonderful!!
