Pleasantly surprised
I traveled to the area to visit my son at Clarkson University. The places closer to campus were booked, so I ventured a little further out. The Blue Spruce was about 30 minutes away. I stayed in one of the King Rooms down a little pathway. The room was immaculately clean. The bed was very comfortable, not saggy or too soft or too firm. I had a little electric fire place in the room to combat the chill in the air. There was a full coffee set up with a drip pot, not a single cup brewer. And a large refrigerator, not dorm room sized. The woman who checked me in walked me to the room and asked if I needed anything else. I was only there for 1 night but I would absolutely stay there again.

Everything was in good condition and operable. The staff was very friendly and alerted me to our interior car light on. No frills but none were wanted. Two good restaurants and short drive to the St. Lawrence Seaway at night was very enjoyable. We walked everywhere and felt safe. I would stay here again.

Best place in Massena
Multi-day stay for fishing trip. Good location and easy to find any needed businesses. Hotel grounds were clean and kept up. Check-in was a breeze and clerk was extremely polite and took time to show you everything. Room was big and extremely clean and well kept. Coffee and refrigerator in room was a huge plus. Will definitely stay again when in the area.

The place was clean, but there wasn't any hot water for a shower. I also got locked out of my room and no service was available to let me back in.

Also we let all of our guest know when checking in that the front lobby is only open 9am-9pm but our phones are always open 24/7 for our guest if in need of assistance. My father and Mother designed these rooms for traveling workers and tourists destined for Beautiful Massena NY. Our rooms are not cramped, plenty of square footage. We know how much luggage comes with working on the road and weekly fishing trips to a town with 3 Rivers. The Blue Spruce Motel rooms are designed to fit you and your luggage comfortably and still have room to move around. Snow is falling today and the Winter projects at the Locks & Ice fishing will begin soon. Looking forward to seeing our snowbirds again!

The stay at this Motel was great. The rooms were very clean and I had no issues with the room itself, however I locked myself out of room at 2:30 am not realizing I didn't have the key to the room with me and I tried to go to the service desk to see if they could unlock it. No one answered. Fast forward to around 7:45 in the morning. I go to the service desk and ask them to unlock the door and he was like "were you the one here at early this morning?" And I was like yeah I locked myself out of my room and was trying to get it unlocked. Then the guy said oh we don't open till 9 am so I would've froze outside if I didn't have my car keys? That's good to know. I'm knocking off one star for that

We at the Blue Spruce Motel are very sorry for your inconvenience. This is a mostly family run business the guy in question is our son and unfortunately confused the guest with another that checked in late the same night when he referred to someone being there early that morning. He was not aware that the guest in front of him was locked out for an extended amount of time. The front desk and gift shop does close at 9pm but we encourage guest to call any time of day or night when in need of assistance. We are looking into what led us to not be notified prior to 730 am. Thank you for the gracious review even with this terrible occurrence.

This is a motel with unusually spacious rooms, convenient parking, and nice features like a full kitchen (and televisions in the living room and bedroom). They also sell very reasonably priced items like local maple syrup in the lobby. My only suggestion would mini cream packets instead of creamers as an option!

Thank you so much. We have ten suites set up as described for our guests including one double suite. In addition to the local maple syrup we have locally produced 100% raw honey and fresh cheese curd delivered weekly. We always want to accommodate our guests to the fullest and we will look into this request. Thanks again from the Blue Spruce Motel.

The room was well appointed and very clean and comfortable. The staff was exceptionally helpful and nice as we needed a late check in and they were very accommodating. We would definitely stay there again.

Hotel was clean, but could use an upgrade in furnishings. Lighting in the room was insufficient. Our stay was fine, but was not what we expected for the price in Massena, NY.

We are so proud to be the second generation family built, owned, and operated. Too funny to think so long ago I became a home processor. I made donuts and sold them in our gift shop to put this Motel on the map in Massena NY. Now people travel just to Massena to buy my donuts. They get shipped every were, its pretty amazing. Mike and I Fry Donuts Tuesday thru Saturday. Thank You Linda

Thanks to everyone's support this year we were able to crack fill, seal, and line strip the Parking Lot. we even hired it out and got to sit in the shade and watch the process. Great place. Room was wonderful in every way. More importantly, the owners, Mike and Gina were wonderfully helpful. Had a flat tire upon arrival (Tire stated to fail before arrival, nothing to do with the hotel at all) that Mike fixed for me and got the local tire shop to come look.at. Best People and best place in Massena IMHO. Just wish I was there in the summer to enjoy their outdoor area, it looked great even in the cold of early spring.

It Helps when you get a flat tire to know someone who can assist you. Mike and I know the majority of the business owners here in Massena. Massena is known for our people. We are there for each other when we get in a bind. with a few phone calls from Mike, Peter got first-class service and 4 new sneakers. We are so glad you were satisfied with our hospitality. The Blue Spruce Motel loves being a Beacon for Massena. It's amazing to think people travel to Massena just to stay here. I am humbled! We have come to the conclusion best bed we have found is sold at Big Lots. It is the best 10"+ bed in a box bed they have. We have had so many bed troubles personally. Spending over $2000 only to have them sink in the middle. We changed our own bed to this bed and have had no issues since. Safe Travels Seth!

Due to germs, we have never put facial tissue in the rooms. There is tissue available in the lobby. So sorry for that inconvenience. We have been updating all 15 rooms with lighting at the property for 7 years now. we are looking forward to completing this lighting task hopefully by the summer of 2023 Can't wait for you to return and see all the updates!

What a great room. There was a kitchenette, a bedroom with a tv and the cupboards filled with everything you would need to cook a meal. The place is clean, the owners very friendly. The price was great. We will absolutely stay there whenever in town.

Everyone Loves our towels. Thank you Black Friday. You will see me JCPennys buying their entire display out. Yup I'm that Girl. A cart full of linen. By doing this we have the best towels in any Motel Hotel. The laundry is done in house ensuring it is always hypo allergenic. Safe Travels!!

We Pride ourselves on our cleaning routine. Our check list is designed to make sure the room is 100% accurate. We were practicing covid guidelines before the pandemic. When I return to visit our friends, who are actually in Lisbon, I will check availability with Blue Spruce first. It is not a large facility but nonetheless comfortable and clean.

I feel after responding to so many reviews. Cleanliness is the upward most important thing travelers care about. We allow our housekeeper Candy a minimum of 1 hour in each room. With a thorough check list. if everything on the check list is done... it is 100% clean...If something is missed it is considered dirty. Thanks for noticing our extra efforts.

The blue spruce is the absolute best option in maseena. I would not stay anywhere else. The owners are on site, and will do whatever they can to make your stay the best that it can possibly be. I haven’t stayed in the regular rooms. I always book the suites. It is just like having a small apartment. Full kitchen with utensils, small bathroom with a tub and a separated “bedroom”. The building itself is a little bit old feeling. But the rooms have always been very clean and nice. Everything works, the internet is fast. All of your linen is freshly washed and cleaned when you arrive. It is amazing. If you get up early I highly suggest that you walk over to the shop area and buy yourself some of the fresh doughnuts. I cannot say enough good things about this place. It doesn’t have a gym, or a pool, but that is a small sacrifice for the comfort of having the owners right there to help you with anything that you need. When I stay there I truly feel like I’m staying at a friends place while I travel.

SUPER Clean and Comfortable
Just like all the other reviews say - this is a SUPER CLEAR place. Especially now with all the focus on proper sanitation, feel good about knowing they really take care with how they clean their rooms. The beds are comfortable, the place was quiet, and good location to downtown. Thank you! Will stay again whenever back in town for business.
