Voyage dans le passé garanti! Expérience incroyable, personnel accueillant, adorable et serviable.. Ils m ont gentillemment proposé de garder mes bagages la journée qui suivait avant que je rejoigne l hôtel suivant. Le petit dejeuner avec vue sur le jardin a fait son petit effet... Je recommande!!

Extraordinaire
Recherchions une nuit de princesse et l'avons eue! Tout était parfait : l'accueil, la chambre, le repas (avons pris le kaiseki en chambre), le prêt de yakuta, le couchage (édredon qualité top), la salle de bains avec baignoire en bois, le cadre, l'onsen, et le service aux petits soins. J'en oublie surement. C'est cher, c'est vrai, mais cela vaut l'expérience.

Hôtel accueillant, authentique, propre
Notre expérience au sein de ce ryokan a été une expérience unique. Notre chambre avec SDB était confortable, propre, spacieuse. Le Onsen c'est super. Le personnel a été génial, la jeune fille qui s'est occupée de nous a été serviable et très gentille. Petits déjeuners copieux. Métro juste à côté, quartier sympa à proximité.

Excellent Ryokan. Bien placé proche du temple Kiyomisu dera et de Gion. Très bien entretenu, très bel endroit. Les onsen sont magnifiques, le service en chambre (diner et petit dejeuner avec choix de petit dej occidental ou japonais) génial avec une hotesse charmante et vêtue de son kimono traditionnel.On etait ravis...

A prefect place to enjoy Kyoto
Location : the Ryokan is literally situated at a walking distance from the Kiyosumi temple (one of the nicest in Kyoto after the kinkaku and ginkaku temples. Centrally located it is very easy to commute either bus or by subway from the Ryokan. Comfort : it is definitely to be included in then luxary ryokans, the in self bath room with bath is of a great usage although the public facilities are also really great to enjoy. The futons are equipped with a mattress which makes the experience event more comfortable than the standard Ryokan. Service : prefect, customer needs are of No1 interest to the team. Food : wether Japanese or westernmost it is prepared and served with a lot of class !

Un Ryokan qui est une institution depuis presque deux siècles , dès l'acceuil on re-découvre le Japon tel qu'on l'imagine . Même quand on fréquente ce pays 4 fois par an depuis 24 ans , ce qui est mon cas, le Seikoro est une plongée dans le charme , la gentillesse et l'histoire du Japon . La maison est un trésor bien conservé , les chambres on ne peut plus typique , très confortable . Le personnel disponible aimable attentionné et pourtant très discret comme savent l'être les Japonais

Vieille maison traditionnelle avec un service exceptionnel, des moments thé inoubliables. L'emplacement est bon sans être exceptionnel, le métro étant quand même à deux pas. À ne manquer les bains chauds "Honsen" disponibles à même l'hôtel. Petit déjeuner un peu cher. Ryokan de très très bonne qualité.

We stayed here a night and everyone was so friendly and willing to help. They go above and beyond making sure you have the best stay. The food was great and the sleeping mats were so comfortable. We would definitely stay here again in the future.

The place had great vibes from the old style decoration, paper panel doors, small garden and shared bathhouse for an authentic Japanese ryokan experience. Our room attendant was super sweet and explained all the kaiseiki and Japanese breakfast that we were served. The staff were all super attentive and kind. Overall it was a great place to stay for two nights.

My partner and I had the most wonderful stay at Seikoro! First and foremost, the staff are incredible, kind, and caring. They do their best to ensure that your stay is comfortable and enjoyable. We stayed in a traditional Japanese style room and also got the kaiseki dinner and breakfast. I highly recommend all guests take part in the dinner and breakfast service! We got to try so many different flavors and it was all delicious. The futons that we slept on were also extremely comfortable and the amenities are all modern. Staying at Seikoro was the highlight of our trip to Kyoto!

This was an amazing experience, everyone was amazing and accommodating. Our room attendant was very sweet and we had a wonderful view of the garden. This Ryokan is also a very short walk to many important shrines. Highly recommend.

The highest level of service. The 14 course diner was so amazing we were anxiety waiting for the next one. Our personal host made us feel so special her attention to detail us impeccable. Our stay could have not been better.

A wonderful ryokan with a truly welcoming and lovely staff. A great location just steps from the subway and useful bus lines, and about a 15 minute walk from the Gion area. Also has a great little onsen to relax the day away!

Authentic ryokan with service standards one can expect from a ryokan stay. Very centrally situated, within walking distance to shopping district and shrine. Train station is just outside the ryokan and connects to most places of interest in less than 30min.

We had a wonderful stay at Seikoro Ryokan. All of the staff were so lovely and friendly and Tomoko who was serving us personally was very thoughtful and considerate, bringing us things we might want without us even asking (e.g. more cream for our coffee). We had the masa set menu for dinner and it was brilliant as well. We felt bad with the old man who helped us with our bags but he was very strong! I think its a family run business and we were sk glad to stay there and meet them all. A truly very authentic Japanese ryokan experience. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Our stay at the Seikoro was incredible: starting from the facilities, a traditional and original ryoken building, to our hostess Teru who was SUPER nice with us, explaining and answering our questions, to the staff always friendly and eager to help. Super recommended to everybody who wants a real ryoken experience!

Simply amazing!
I don’t even know where to start. This traditional style hotel was an amazing experience from the start to finish. We got there early so they held our bags while we walked around. When we came back our bags were in our room and they brought us a cookie and tea for a snack. We left for dinner and when we came back our beds were setup. The breakfast in the morning was delicious and on time. The staff was so incredibly nice and considerate. I would stay here again in a heartbeat. Thanks!

Walking through the door was like stepping back in time to a former Japan. Impreccable service and a warm welcome, was followed by a sublime dinner service and a charming onsen visit. A great nights sleep in an oasis of calm. I would happily return!

What a fantastic experience to stay in a traditional Japanese house it felt like I’d been transported back to the 1800’s albeit with modern conveniences in the room. Great staff and we thoroughly enjoyed the onsen.

Stayed for 4 nights on holiday with late teenage family . The ryokan was superb. Traditional Japanese experience with a super kind attentive atmosphere from a family run business . It may not be for everyone but we loved it !

What a fun stay. The staff and in particular our room attendant Hiro were fantastic. The arrival and departure rituals were so much fun for my son, with often five or more staff members greeting us or waving goodbye each time we arrived or left. The room was nice, futons a little bit hard and I am just not used to sitting on the ground and getting up from the floor every time. All in all, a great experience and I wouldn't change the experience for something different.

Seikoro Ryokan is the perfect place to experience Kyoto while getting a glimpse of a traditional guesthouse with a communal bath. We stayed in the family room, which had everything needed for our family to stay in comfort. The staff/service was absolutely wonderful.

My son and I took a trip to Japan and loved the experience. This Ryokan was one of the highlights of our trip. It is a very unique stay and you should plan your evening around it if you choose to stay. This is not like a traditional hotel, you are cared for individually. Yuma was our room attendant and was very sweet. Dinner and breakfast were amazing and she did a great job of explaining what everything was. Super cool experience. I hope Yuma is able to visit NASA one day as she said she loves it.

For $1000 / night this needs to feel like a peaceful well appointed retreat. And our family has seen a ryokan done well. Unfortunately, our first reaction when walking in was to try to find a new place to stay. They do, however, really try to make up for it with service. The amenities and rooms need upgrading. It’s dated, and we don’t mean in a beautiful antique way, we mean dated. There’s almost no closet space, there’s tons in the room, but they occupy it all with their stuff - and not efficiently. They could easily reappoint some for guests. The centre garden was not visible just leaves out the window. The onsen was nice but could also use an update. Sleeping wasn’t great. Either stay traditional and leave the sleeping mats on the floor or go modern and add comfortable beds. But the choice to balance the larger mats on two smaller wobbly mattresses was uncomfortable and we literally slipped off more than once. At this price point they need a laundry service. Pointing people to the coin laundry down the road would be fine for a hostel. For service, we felt like royalty but after a couple days their obsequiousness got uncomfortable. We would have liked to sleep in later than 8 before they entered for the room for latest breakfast service option. Food was amazing but the same food 5 days in a row gets boring. They could easily turn this into a $1000/night stay but right now it’s not worth it. For one or two nights it would be fine but we don’t recommend more than that.
