Good hotel for a few days in clean and safe location of Guayaquil, opposite the malecon- excellent staff and service. However the rooms do not look like the pictures, and are much older condition. Also the hotel is located 3 floors high and lots of steps to climb. If you are okay climbing stairs for a few days, hotel may work well for you.

Estimado Miguel,Al recibir tu comentario pregunté y entiendo que te llevaste una sorpresa porque no te habias dado cuenta que reservaste una habitación con baño compartido.Lamento tu sorpresa y si hubiera habido disponibilidad en ese momento te habríamos podido ofrecer una opción con baño privado. Pero no estás dicendo la verdad al aseverar que el Manso no tiene baños y que parece una cárcel. Por favor, estos espacios deben usarse para compartir información útil para otros huéspedes, no para ser paños de lágrimas de frustraciones personales.Manejar un hotel es aprender a lidiar con todo tipo de caracteres, pero este tipo de quejas infundadas e injustas la verdad me deja sin palabras.

Estimado Antonio,Lamento mucho que hayas tenido un accidente en una de las duchas del Manso. No se si por ese motivo es apropiado decir que somos un terrible hotel. Nuestras duchas tienen baldosa rugosa en el piso para evitar caidas. De hecho no hemos tenido problemas en este sentido. Lamento lo sucedido pero dejo claro que no hubo nada en el hotel que lo haya causado.

Un excelente lugar cerca del Malecón 2000
El hostal está muy bien ubicado junto al Malecón 2000 en una zona segura, muy cercana al centro y bien comunicada por diversos medios de transporte. Las instalaciones son correctas y bien decoradas. El ambiente es relajado, pero podría ser más acogedor. La comunicación no es el fuerte y es algo que puede mejorar. El desayuno es excelente y los happy hours estupendos.

We loved our stay here. The rooms were simple and all we needed but the service was amazing. Lou, the gal at the front desk, went above and beyond to help us. She helped sort out our sim cards for our phones and was able to answer any questions we had. The terrace at happy hour was lovely. The location on the Malecon was perfect. We only regret that our flight arrived two days late and that we didn't get to stay longer!

Dear Jose I am so sorry to learn that. Usually mosquitoes dislike a/c, so we always recommend that resource. We dont use mosquito nets as the problem is not really that serious in normal circumstances. We do not have roaches. We do periodic fumigations, as we are based in a tropical city. We operate in a landmark building, which has been and is continously renovated.

It is not clear why your extremely low rating... we have parking space for our guests.. I wish people would use this space to share information useful to people.

I loved the breakfast. The coffee was the best. The staff was very friendly. The view was awesome. I didn't like that I had to carry my luggage up and down to the third floor. I had a baby with me. When I just arrived someone helped. When I left Manso, the staff saw I had a lot of luggage and no one offered to help.

Hello, Very sorry to hear that. Usually Manso's staff is super friendly and helpful... there must have been some unusual situation here. I cannot imagine anyone from the team seeing you with a baby and not offering help. Sorry about that!!

No estuvo tan agradable ya que encontré sucio el baño y existían cucarachas dentro del lugar. La atención fue muy amable y nos ayudaron con todo. El desayuno es muy bueno.

Estimado Esteban, Tu feedback es muy importante. Ayudaria mucho saber que tipo de suciedad encontraste en el baño; tu estuviste en la habitacion Bambu con baño privado. Las habitaciones con baño privado se limpian y desinfectan y despues revisan, por eso me sorprende un poco tu observación. Revisando la fecha de tu estadía veo que el dia anterior se hizo fumigación. En climas tropicales es necesario fumigar semanalmente, y eso alborota un poco los bichos; no ocurre siempre pero ha ocurrido. En general tenermos estandares de limpieza altos y no solemos tener problemas de higiene. En todo caso, mis disculpas por los inconvenientes acontecidos.

Would stay here again
I would stay here again. We were just here for one night, but we got an upgraded room with a window looking onto the water. The bed was comfy, the room was clean. Breakfast was included but we left too early so can't comment on that. The staff was friendly on check in and spoke English. There was a sitting area outside our door which made me nervous at first about noise, but we didn't have any problem and didn't hear anything. The AC worked very well, and the Wifi was pretty good from the room (which isn't always the case in Ecuador). The location is terrific if you want to explore the waterfront. The only gripe was we couldn't get the electric water heater to turn on and give us any hot water for our shower in the morning. I'm guessing if we had complained they would have fixed it (or explained our mistake) but we left at 5am for a flight so we didn't have time to deal with it. Despite that annoyance, I would stay here again, I just might check the hot water the night before. lol. Also, the hotel is not well marked from the outside, but Google maps took us to the right spot and the address was visible, but you have to come in and walk up a flight of stairs to the reception.

Good location to walk around. Breakfast is pretty minimal. Nothing that special. Stayed in the dorm room and it was pretty hot at times, even with the fan on. Got a bunch of mosquito bites too from the windows being open all day/night. Bathrooms don’t seem particularly clean. But the staff was helpful every time I had questions for them.

This place is great for us, but it's not for everybody. Lots of stuff is worn or inexpensive stuff, and the décor might be charitably described as eclectic. But it's right on the malecon and in a safe neighborhood. I've been here twice and I'm not looking for anywhere else. Lots of backpackers. One step up from a hostel.

Dear Hamish, Yes, you are right, we recycle everything and give style to inexpensive stuff. That is our secret to offering such incredibly low rates and at the same time offer beautiful rooms, a prime location and a Class A Service! Regarding our crowd, we have 4 shared rooms, but 16 private rooms. Most of our guests are adult, but we have a mixed crowd... that for many people make their stay more fun! Thanks a lot for your review!

Some shared rooms do not have AC, only a small standing fan which, if you’re in the top bunk bed, does not reach you. Shared bathroom in one of the floors did not have running water.

Dear Anonymous, In the room name it is clearly indicated which shared rooms do not have a/c. Out of our 4 shared rooms, 2 have a/c, 2 do not. The ones that do not have a/c are the ones that have big windows to the river -it is not that necessary. We have water 24/7. I cannot see the date of your stay because you chose to remain anonymous, but probably it was a temporary shortage in the area. That rarely happens but it happened once in the last month. Apologies for the inconvenience.

The property had great staff fluent in English, I saw an art class getting taught there one day as I kept going in and out of the room seeing the attractions around the Hostel, I was pleasantly surprised as I booked on the spot via Expedia at a hostel that morning in Salinas

Dear Guest, Our breakfast is continental and it includes a buffet table with two options of bread, jam, peanut butter, real butter (not margarine), organic coffee, a variety of teas, juice and fresh fruit. All the additional options cost between USD 1 and 1.50. Thanks for your review
