3 star stay - heavy 5 star price!
Very average place but comes with a very high price. Standards not up to the price being charged. Attention to the little things missing. Definitely not worth over Euro 300 per night! Bathroom towels old and fraying. No back-up power for repeated load-shedding (even 3-star hotels in Cape Town / Graaf-Reinett / Kruger Park / across South Africa now have full solar invertor - back-up generators installed!). Bed too short (and I am average height - my feet hang over end which last happened to me at a hotel for midgets in Paris!). Room cleaning service merely adequate. Off street parking almost unparkable unless you're in a Fiat Uno. Etc ... Much better places in Franschoek for much less money.

The Last Word is a great place to stay - spacious room, great amenities, friendly and helpful staff. The only complaint was that our room had an air conditioner which was undersized for the room. That coupled with the rolling power outages made the room quite uncomfortable at times.

It really is the last word!
Amazing hotel and staff. Beautiful room with it’s own small swimming pool. The breakfasts were delicious and the house keeping staff are amazing! Thank you for a wonderful stay

We think this hotel is a gem in Franschhoek. This is our 2nd visit, first staying in room 3 and this stay in room 2. The staff cannot do enough for you, we love our suite, feeling very relaxed in it. The extra touches the staff go to are greatly appreciated.

The price I paid way way too much for the experience of staying at the last word. I don't mind paying for quality but this trip it really was way out of kilter regarding pice vs experience.

Service with a smile!
Overall a memorable stay at the hotel. The staff and responsiveness to requests are top notch. From the welcome we received from Conrad and the team to them trying to fulfill our requests, they were amazing. Rooms are large, which is ideal for a couple, not sure about families, did not ask. The hotel is situated on the main road it is within walking distance of all you need. Make sure you look out for the sign as Wave directed us to the delivery entrance! Dietary requirements are catered for no problem - you ask and they try to accommodate the request. The afternoon tea/drinks were a treat. They only have breakfast on site and do not do other meals - they are surrounded by a variety of restaurants. The pool is not heated so usage is dependent on the time of year and temperature. There are 10 rooms and not enough parking, so you might need to park on the street - our car was safe overnight.

The staff is super friendly and helpful. They will go out of their way to meet your needs. The room was super spacious and comfortable. The hotel includes all mini bar, alcohol and breakfast in their rate. The location is great, in the town center, lots of shops and great restaurants around.

From when you first walk into the property and are greeted by the warm staff, you know this place is special. Literally located in town, you can walk everywhere. It is charming and decorated very tastefully exuding calm serenity. The rooms were very well appointed with heated floors, a bonus in Cape winters! Also complimentary stocked mini bar and two bottles of wine. They did little turn down touched to make are stay memorable and special. Breakfast was fresh and made to order, delicious. Would go back again, great break away from the city!

Franklin the manager is amazing. Punctual, above and beyond, and sociable. He made the entire stay. The locations is lovely, a nice communal feel. If you are comfortable getting the front door keys for a place and sharing a glass of wine with your fellow guest, this is the place for you.

Não tenho como achar pontos negativos! A cidade é um charme e o Last word fez jus a cidade! Quartos super espaçosos, bem decorado, com uma mini sala de estar. Banheiros enormes, banheira com vista para as montanhas ( fiquei no número 7). Café da manhã muito bom! Welcome drink com vinho, creme brulè, enfim..não se arrependera

que hotel encantador!!! vc se sente especial!!! ja começou pelo check in, onde o sr Conrad nos levou pessoalmente ao nosso quarto, sequer foi necessário apresentar cartão de credito!! Enquanto éramos apresentados a nossa maravilhosa suite, foram servidos cafe e torta (deliciosa) de cortesia. Quarto excelente!!! Enorme, muito confortável, banheiro, (ou melhor, casa de banho, de tao grande!) espaçoso, com banheira, chuveiro, 2 cubas, sanitário separado... cama super confortável!! Mimos como pétalas de flores por todo quarto e banheiro e chinelos e roupões de banho me encantaram! frigobar abastecido com aguas, refrigerantes, sucos (ate de lichia!!!), vinho, que poderiam ser consumidos a vontade!! no lobby hotel tem um bar onde vc se serve a vontade de agua, sucos, vinhos e varias outras bebidas alcoólicas (vodca, whisky, licores...). hotel muito próximo a restaurantes e lojas, passeio muito agradável a pe. caso esteja chovendo, na porta de cada quarto tem guarda chuva a disposição. a noite, a eles preparam a cama para dormir: roupões e chinelos ao lado da cama, agua e um creme brulle (isso mesmo!!) no criado mudo. realmente tudo pra nos sentirmos especiais!! cafe da manha fora de serie!!! tudo preparado na hora! pedi um ovo poche com batatas rustie que estava divino!! todos os atendentes muito simpáticos e prestativos!!! contratamos no próprio hotel passeio para as vinícolas e transfer de volta para o aeroporto em Cape Town. Enfim, so tenho muitos elogios a esse hotel, parabéns!

Comfy but not "the last word"
The rooms are spacious and well-equipped (though it took me half an hour to figure out how to get the fan to work - no staff on duty at night), but this is a tiny property on a quiet alcove off the main street, not a country estate like it appears in the photos. The gentlemen at the front desk is very helpful, but I arrived on a busy Monday and he had to call over a dozen restaurants before I could get a table (for one) for dinner. The pool is also very small. Overall very comfy but don't expect a truly world class experience.

My The Last Word is that I will be coming back!
Booked this hotel for my birthday, how glad I was! The staff is incredibly friendly and very attentive to your needs. If there is one thing i would recommend anyone visiting South Africa is that you must reserve in advance restaurants Lots of Chateaus not far away!! Wine tasting is a must!

Quality hotel right in the main town
Franschhoek is a great place to spend a few days....wine tour (we did it on Horseback which was great), great shops and restaurants...(roca's overlooking the town was awesome!) and the hotel is right there...excellent personal service and advice on local visits and restaurants, and superb suites with personal plunge pool. Belgian chocolate shop close by does a great chocolate making demo and makes delicious chocs....
