Me and my husband stayed at the hotel just after Christmas 2019 and it truly Is a breathtaking location, sitting just above the small town of Arolla with majestic views all around.
The hotel itself looks splendid and is set in amongst some wonderful forestry - we were lucky enough to be treated to a deluge of fresh snow over the course of our stay which made it possible to head straight out from the hotel ski touring and to ski straight back in at the end of the day. They have great facilities for ski storage on site.
The staff at the hotel were excellent all throughout our stay and the food in the on-site restaurants was also pretty good overall. Continental breakfast is sufficient if a little limited but helps get the day started.
The surrounding area and ski resort is a real paradise for sports enthusiasts and the views are outstanding, unfortunately the hotel doesn’t quite live up to those same standards. We had a third floor room, the rooms are small and aged but that’s ok - however the two biggest disappointments of all were firstly the bed, such poor quality for a near 200 franc a night room. And, secondly the noise, it’s a very old hotel so it’s understandable in some ways but the constant noise of other guests, the lift, doors etc made for a very poor nights sleep.
If there’s one thing a hotel should win at it’s a quality bed, unfortunately this wasn’t the case and for us we felt short changed for the price.
