Hôtel rénové récemment : très grand confort, pub agréable, très bonnes prestations et rapport qualité prix imbattable (100 euros environ pour 2 nuits en chambre double avec petit déjeuner).

hotel et restaurant trés " british ",mais qui demande un peu de renovation et un peu plus d'entretien , la chambre familiale (sous les combles) était glaciale une vraie chambre froide de magasin , nous n'étions bien que sous la couette !

En campagne, Joli village
Grand hotel en dimension, notre chambre était grand aussi pour nous trois avec TV, Wifi inclus. Restaurant ou au bar parfait avec animation pour notre soirée c'étais un magician à notre table extraordinaire, un dimanche soir!! Si par exemple vous allez à Painswick 10 kms prés de Stroud vous allez payer trois fois le prix de cette hotel pour moin de confort. Si vous cherchez la vie authentique d'angleterre reservez ici.

Lovely hotel, and fantastic staff. My bed was super comfy and they gave me loads of pillows (a necessity that most hotels neglect to provide). The room was quiet, and I slept like a baby. The bar is great. Dining room is pretty standard, the food was fine.

Lovely local area. Room warm, clean and tidy. Breakfast was really, really good. - No sockets by the bedside. Couldn't charge devices over night there. Appreciate it's an old building. Cables could be run around the side though?? - On arrival, staff made us feel like an imposition. We ordered food from the bar (chips) but then a live band started playing and it was impossible to hear one another. We (2 of us) asked if it would be possible to sit in the restaurant area where it was quieter (there were still guests there from earlier). The member of staff we spoke to was rather unkind about it all. A simple "Really sorry we can't... You could try sitting..." would have been totally fine.

A comfortable night's stay
Superb welcome from reception. For the price we paid, a very comfortable night's stay. Room was definitely dated but very clean and serviceable. Excellent breakfast in the morning! Very easy to drive into Cheltenham.

One night stopover. Selected for economic pricing and realistically you get what you pay for. Older pub with rooms. Superficially tired but kept clean and spruced up in some places with new paint. Exterior has scaffolding (December 23) but it shows owners are investing in maintenance. Staff were pleasant and polite. Evening food came out quickly but suffered from Green King supply chain. I had three starters and no main course. The breaded mushrooms were the worst I can ever recall. Texture of rubber and tasted of water. The pate was OK but covered in thick slab of fat (which some people like). Garlic bread was fine. Breakfast was good - cooked and cold option. If your expectations are reasonable then this place is fine for the money

Disappointing
Unfortunately, a rather tired and neglected building, in urgent need of updating. Our room was damp, the overriding smell of which permeated everything. Uncomfortable beds (twin bed room) and the bathroom also smelt damp and was in dire need of a good clean and air. Breakfast was good and staff were friendly.

Lovely room, nice big bed that I found comfortable - large bathroom and bath. Quiet in room, everything you'd need/want. Shame about some of the portion sizes in the restaurant and lack of many items on the menu.

Overall, it was a decent stay (for the lower price). There’s a walking path with views that runs behind the property. The food was really good, though service in the restaurant was terrible; the service staff were all pretty inexperienced and rude. Still, good food though! The room was all that you’d expect.

It is a fine old building in a lovely part of the country. The reception staff were very helpful, even assisting us without question to change rooms when we found the room we were given had a small window and was dark and with little fresh air. Poor lighting was a feature of both rooms, with bulbs being severely low wattage or just not working. Room cleaning was great however. We were a little bemused by one or two bar staff, who seemed to be untrained in good bar work such as noticing their customers in order of appearance and remembering them from one round to the next. Breakfast - Continental - was good. Overall, a mixed experience that could have been better with a little extra time and care at all levels.

The hotel is OK, looking a bit tired in places, but perfectly good for a couple of nights. The problem seems to be in the restaurant. Both nights there was something forgotten from the order. We sat at the same table both nights and the same bit of food that obviously fallen off someones plate was there both nights. Breakfast food was good but how an organisation the size of Greene King can't manage to have proper de-caff coffee is beyond me (we were given a sachet and a pot of hot water and told to make it ourselves). I also heard one person told that they don't have de-caff tea. They can buy a pack of that in a supermarket and put it in a pot... Overall it was OK for 2 nights but the restaurant is pot luck.

The room was spacious and comfortable but noisey being near the reception. The doors squeaked everytime some came through to the rooms. The whole experience was mixed. Some staff were happy in their jobs and helpful but others were just going through the motions. The breakfast was good, restaurant and bar food okay.

Staff at reception, in the bar and who clean the hotel rooms were excellent. All friendly and welcoming. Great to have pub facilities for eating and while the food is average at best, it's convenient. Great location to visit everywhere across the Cotswolds and easy access to the M5. Room was cozy, comfortable and quiet and we would definitely stay here again.

First time visit to the hotel which we really enjoyed. Downside soap dispenser could do with being nearer to the basin, needs electric points by the side of the bed and the room we were in did not have the best water pressure but we were at the end of the corridor. Had twin room but my bed was uncomfortable in the middle however my sisters was fine. The hotel itself was great we were fortunate with the weather it is a great pub to sit outside and the Saturday night entertainment was good. Staff were all very friendly and welcoming.

Firstly we booked a superior room through Hotels.com who in turn booked a family room through Expedia. We slept on the top floor - no lift ! Asked, on arrival if we could book a table for dinner and were told NO - pick a table in the bar or garden and we would be served there. First evening ordered Hunters Chicken which was inedible - dry and over microwaved ! It was replaced with a freshly cooked chicken portion. The following night we went to the restaurant and requested to be seated - the same guy that booked us in then asked - have we made a reservation !! No obviously not as you told us NO when we arrived ! He then stuck us in a corner out of the way ! Talk about being treated badly !! ( It should also be noted that they allow dogs in the bar - and certain members of staff know the dogs names and go and give the dogs strokes and big hugs and return to go behind the bar and serve customers without washing their hands ! Totally unacceptable ! ) We had steaks which were very delicious and well prepared on the good side and the breakfasts were good too ! The manageress spoke to us as we were feeling very disgruntled and she didn't charge us for the evening meal. There is a lot of new furniture outside in the garden which is lovely but I feel monies would be better spent on some TLC in the bathrooms.

OK for a short stopover
Original part of hotel is quaint and staff were accommodating. Down side is that the rooms need updating quite badly - our side table had a built in radio that looked like it had been there since the 80’s. Was clean, and OK for an overnight stop on our walking tour.
