“adequate”

There is a strong smell of mould throughout the building that's noticeable as soon as you step into the hotel lobby. Fortunately the odour was less noticeable in the rooms, although there was some mould on the tiles in the bathroom/shower area. The front desk staff, while polite and friendly, seemed to be very poorly trained, as they had little/no knowledge about the area or any local attractions. The hotel is located in a somewhat isolated residential area, away from any subway stations, with the nearest attraction being the Botanical Gardens, which are about a 10 minute walk away. However, the surroundings are quiet, and the hotel does provide a free shuttle service that drops you off on Scotts Road, very close to Orchard and the MRT -- took the shuttle downtown whenever I went just about anywhere. There are large banners to promote a new condominium development on the site of the Copthorne Orchid hotel. One of the (few) knowledgeable staff members I spoke to said that the hotel will be closing in April 2011 for demolition to make way for the new development.

“The hotel was very tired, i gather it is closing soon”

The room was clean but the bathroom had mold growing & the plug in the bath had jammed so the water could not escape. The room & the whole wing of the hotel I stayed in smelt very damp & moldy. I have been told though the hotel is being pulled down soon so maybe no maintenance is being done

“if you like hard beds”

The beds were extremely hard and we couldn't sleep very well, Staff didn't seem to understand what I was asking when I asked did they have a room with a softer bed. We met another couple who also had the same problem that they couldn't sleep because of the hard bed. I think Hotels should have a mixture of beds and when you book there so be a question as to what type of bed you would like. I wouldn't stay there again only because of the bed.

“Too bad, the buidling will be removed to build new condo”

The hotel is getting old. Some rooms are good, some rooms are not. It locates near botanical garden which is convenience for people who like to visit botanical garden. It is also close to the city, so it is not expensive to take a taxi to go to the city. The hotel is situated in the quiet residential neighborhood, so it is safe and nice. I have stayed in this hotel for a few times already. They told me they are going to demolish the building to give way to the condos. That is a pity. Otherwise, I will always come back to it.

Anywhere is good in Singapore is fine. Only I would not stay at little India. Not racist, or anything, just can't stand the crowd and the smell. You also need to consider when your taxi enters the city, you must pay extra. That is the drawback to stay in the heart of the city.

“will stay there if possible”

good hotel, a little out of town but the hotel has a shuttle bus to town at no cost. food in the restaurant is a bit expensive. will advise to include breakfast with the room rate.

“I will not go to this hotel at all”

Hell hell hell, never ever I would go through this expereince moving rooms during the night to find out if their broadband service is working or not.

“BEEN BACK OVER AND OVER”

This hotel is VERY CLOSE TO DOWNTOWN ...if that`s what you want.... book here...cause it`s not that expensive...considering what`s around you...and the prices they charge. I must of been back 4 to 5 time now.

“worst hotel”

This is not a 3 star hotel, its more like a -1.5. The walls have mold on them, there are stains all over the walls, the toilet flush does not work. The staff is unfriendly and there are people sitting in the lobby to be roommed for hours at a time. over all a horrible experience.
