“Nice budget hotel”

The hotel is 5 minutes walk from Farrer Park MRT station, and is in a quiet neighbourhood.. there are 3 buddhist temples adjacent to the hotel, and chinese curio shops nearby.. it is at walkable distance to Little India (about 10 minutes walk).. it is a quiet hotel but decent.. The room is small but neat and comfortable.. the toilet is neat but small.. the reception staff are cheerful and helpful.. AC works fine.. there is an instant water heater and shower, toilet paper but there is no mug or buckets.. tv has around 6 channels, HBO being the only movie channel.. it is a good place for those who wish to have a nice, affordable but small and comfortable resting place at night after a busy day out shopping and/or sightseeing.. Thanks to the staff at Asphodel Inn.. i am satisfied with my experience, considering the relatively cheap price..

“affordable hotel in excellent location”

The hotel is affordable, positioned in excellent location near to serangoon road and farer park Metro station, Mustafa center is 5 mins walk, but I had a bitter experiance in my room, I found rat in my room, it ate biscuits and some of my food items, thank fully it did not spoiled my brand new shirts., no wifi in room. Overall the hotel is decent at this price, and a best bet.

“We like this place”

Handy to MRT station, shopping in Little India & genuine Asian foods. Not westernised versions of Asian foods or foods that Asians prepare for a western palette. Buddhist & Hindu temples close by are well worth a look but don't be intrusive & ask for permission to photograph if you must. This is just a common courtesy anywhere. Enjoy.

“On a budget, skip budget hotels and try a hostel...”

I'll preface that the front desk reception was pretty friendly overall as a group and the two times I requested things, I got them pretty promptly as I needed them. So this shouldn't reflect poorly on the staff at Asphodel Inn. The condition of the room was a nightmare: - Tiny bathroom with awkward toilet positioning made for uncomfortable sitting, rundown looking tiles and floor, small sink, and I HATE the combo shower that seems popular in budget accommodations across Asia b/c youre using the bathroom floor as your shower drain basin and the floor stays wet after youre done showering. - No towel service. If I gotta deal with the wet bathroom floor, dry towels daily without asking would be nice. - TV was a small 10" box with 15 channels except only 6 get reception and only 1 is in English, so you watch what HBO Singapore tells you to watch. - No internet in the room. What modern city hotel was no internet in room? Not even by lan cable. Free wifi is only available in the lobby and small designated area. The bed was at least comfortable and sheets relatively clean. And probably less sketchy here than other budget chains, though did run into a pro-girl and her ogre client on the way up the elevator. Little India was not bad. After having good experiences staying at cheaper hostels earlier during my Asia trip, I thought I'd splurge a little and stay at a budget hotel upon my arrival in Singapore. Fail. Found a nice hostel after and sticking with hostels next time.

“Clean, basic, hotel.”

The hotel is conveniently located about 8 mins walk from the MRT station, It's basic but clean. the room was small and poorly equipped no refrigerator the TV was old and bad picture, the wardrobe was broken and had no hangers. the bed was comfortable, the bathroom was small but clean, the room was cleaned well every day. If you want a cheap basic hotel as a base for a few days sight seeing and don't intend to spend much time in the hotel then it is fine.

“Good value for money for a short stay”

Easy 5 minute walk from Farrar park MRT, $2.20 from Changi Airport or a taxi ride for $14. Has Wifi, really important for me to have. Stayed their on 2 occasions in August and October and found other travellers comments to be very accurate about the hotel. Will stay there again

“Basic, clean hotel but a little noisy”

I've stayed at this place on two separate trips now. The first time, I was in a room towards the front, looking out at the temple across the street. It was a little noisy, but not so bad. The more recent trip, I was at the back of the hotel and the noise was annoying. I'd say, if you're set on Little India and don't mind the noise, this is a great, clean place. If you don't need to be in this neighbourhood, I think I might search around for something else.

“The hotel is fine but the patrons aren't the greatest”

Asphodel Inn is fine. The room is clean, the AC works well and there's plenty of hot water. And the bathroom looks fairly new and so does the elevator. Also, the hotel provides you with 2 bottled waters, tea and instant coffee. The hotel's location in Little India is good. There's several temples within a stone throw away. Mustafa Mall and China Green Mall are about a 10 minute walk away. Plenty of outdoor food stalls are within a 5 minute walk. The only problem is some of the patrons. Although management tries to keep the place clean, some people put bags of trash in the hall. In addition, you might see a lady of the night with her customer in the place. But overall, I liked the hotel. The hotel staff was friendly and the location was great. Lots of Indian restaurants near China Green Mall.
