Was here over 30 years ago and don't remember it being this beautiful! Grounds are immaculate and constantly being groomed. Peace and absolute quiet. Understated elegance, (rustic), quiet, absolutely professional staff all around---from the front gatehouse to the car valet. Friendly staff always wanting to make sure you enjoy the day and the sunset---without being intrusive. Food is outstanding ---quality beyond 5 stars. Went to two other restaurants because of recommendations; would have been happier just dining here. An absolute jewel of a destination. You can't get any better than this......

Magical getaway
The San Ysidro Ranch has a chill garden of eden in paradise feeling; from the private outdoor shower and jacuzzi for every cottage to the exquisite peaceful mountain view from the very private pool with lush overplanted gardens. And, as a special bonus, the spectacular San Ysidro hiking trail is out the front door! We went there for our birthdays and were treated royally. Both world class restaurants were fantastic. We can’t wait to go back!

Almost unbelievably great hotel
this hotel is fabulous, excellent food in gorgeous restaurants, beautiful private patio with perfect lounge chairs and dining table. when the ordered breakfast came, the table was set with cloth table cloth. it is like being in another world!

Beautiful grounds w/blooming flowers and trimmed bushes everywhere, and a gracious reception area. Cottage OK, but not five star (one sink in bathroom, queen bed); spider web in bathroom, at ceiling.

Best Birthday weekend ever!
Now I know what all the accolades are all about. The SYR is top notch all around. Enjoyed the Pool, dining on our patio and the incredible Stonehouse restaurant. Highly recommend the SYR!

Quiet elegance.
Went for a girlfriend's weekend getaway. Enjoyed it immensely. Wonderful food. A great place to get away and relax. Good location, close to many sights in the area. Restaurant was excellent as was the service all over the property. They take very good care of you.

Very nice room, but not worth the price.
This is an extremely expensive hotel. It did not live up to our expectations. For my husband's 40th birthday, we were the first people at the restaurant with a 6 pm reservation. We were seated directly in the sun. We asked to have the blinds lowered twice, but spent our time squinting with the sun in our eyes. The second couple at dinner that evening was seated right next to us. With no one else in the entire restaurant, we were a little crammed together and could hear every word of their conversation. Aside from this, the room was very nice, but did not warrant the price. The hiking trails were not impressive. There was no spa, only spa treatments in your room. The grounds were very nice, but there was very little to do.

Outstanding place to get away. My wife and I celebrated our baby moon prior to her giving birth to our son. Absolutely relaxing environment and we are sure to return. Staff was also top notch!

Truly heaven on earth!
This place is truly amazing! The cottage really makes you feel at home wish we stayed a little longer, it's worth every penny. The small jacuzzi and the tub are so relaxing, not enough words to describe our experince. This place is highly recommended!!

Perfect get-a-way
Every little detail was covered. Perfect get-a-way. Quiet, peaceful, nice pool, food everywhere (we weren't nickel and dimed). The two days of hikes up the San Ysidro Trail were fantastic. The pool was at the right temperature...service great. The Stonehouse restaurant was the best place we ate on our 8 night trip up the California coast.

Amazing retreat in the hills above Montecito
We had a wonderful 4 night stay here. The hotel is so beautiful and the service is excellent and friendly. The restaurants and room service are excellent. The rooms are very unique. They range from small private luxury cabins to full homes. Very safe area. Sun and stars were amazing. Night time lighting is very low and romantic. Highly recommended, this hotel beckons you back when out sight-seeing and for a future visit! One of the the best hotels I have ever stayed at. Expensive, but worth it. We looked at several other options in the area and were so happy with our choice to stay here despite the extra cost.

The Ultimate Getaway
Our stay was delightful! This is the nicest getaway we have experienced because everything here is beautiful. The property is gorgeous. We will return soon to celebrate another Birthday!! We loved The San Ysidro Ranch❤️ Blair Waite

We'll pass next time.
We stayed during the long Thanksgiving weekend. The hotel itself and people working there were wonderful BUT the extra charges for the pool and advertising was above and beyond the very expensive price we were already paying for the room. The Thanksgiving meal we had was also way over priced and not worth it considering the quality of the food.

Beautiful inside and out
The ranch is so nicely landscaped with beautiful gardens loaded with flowers; a citrus grove and also the chefs garden of produce and herbs. It is a wonderful place to wander. But it is also a treat to just stay in your cottage, each one is beautifully decorated in a way that makes you feel at home. It's hard to choose where to go in the room, however, the canopied bed invites you to stay put, but the porch beckons you to go outdoors. It is not an inexpensive retreat, but it is truly a retreat from everyday life.

Generally a good hotel but the breakfast is only available a "in room dining" as the restaurant is not open for breakfast. Whilst this is fine, the hotel then charges an additional $7 each day for the delivery of breakfast and a standard 20% service charge. Excessive charges given that you have no choice but to have breakfast delivered (or you could eat elsewhere!)

Beautiful Tranquillity
From the moment we arrived we felt the tranquillity of the place rub off on us! This hotel is in a stunning setting with manicured gardens and rooms that are actually separate cottages all with their own private gardens. Everything in the room was tasteful and beautifully clean with antiques and little touches that made us feel at home. All the staff were so polite and responded to any needs we had. The pool is gorgeous and we relaxed there and had delicious tea and a light meal. Dinner was lovely ...the ambience with all the subtle lights and fire heaters was just sublime. The food was delicious too... The only negative thing I can say about the stay was that I was spoken to in a rather rude way by one member of staff at the front desk. I had called the front desk at about 10am to ask if I could possibly have a late check out and was told that it would be fine to stay until 1pm. I also asked for a table to be booked at the stonehouse restaurant at 1pm and that I would come and check out first and then go to the restaurant. At about 12.15pm a lady staff member called me to ask if there was a reason why I had not checked out yet. When I said that I had been given permission to stay in the room until 1pm she said "I will have to verify that" questioning me that I was telling the truth! I told her that I did not appreciate being spoken to like that and she made the excuse for her behaviour that they only have a small number of rooms there! She did say sorry in the end.

Fabulous hotel outside of Santa Barbara
We hit all the high points of Santa Barbara and the surrounding region in 3 full days and were thrilled we chose San Ysidro Ranch as our base of operations. The grounds are breathtaking and worth at least a day. The staff guided us on where to spend our time and coordinated all of our activities. The attention to detail from flowers to staff to the room was impeccable. We will be back.

Great hotel for couples
This is a wonderful hotel for couples. We just got back from a weekend here and would definitely come back. The grounds are stunning, the food and wine are amazing and the room we stayed in was comfortable. We had just come from the Peninsula in Beverly Hills so the room we had was not as nice, large or comfortable in comparison, and was much more expensive. The gas fireplace was a nice touch though. My only complaints were that the pool area was very crowded on saturday and they could easily have fit a few more chairs and kept the water in the cooler stocked. There was a famous hollywood actress there and even she was complaining loudly about it! Also, the hotel should be for adults only. It is very quiet, peaceful and secluded. There were 2 families with a few kids each and they were so loud at the pool and were jumping in and doing swimming races and splashing everyone which was obnoxious. I have 2 kids of my own and would never even contemplate bringing them to this hotel out of respect for the other guests.

An outstanding retreat to celebrate something spec
This is an outstanding property. It is pricey but worth every penny. There are only 40 rooms which makes for a very private setting.....lush gardens with magnificent view of the mountains. The service is exceptional and all staff go out of their way to ensure your visit in enjoyable. An example of service....breakfast is served anywhere on the property...your room, the pool area, the restaurants, or a small table facing the mountain behind the reception area where we dined. You are only restricted by your own imagination. The room we reserved was exceptional, quaint antiques, with outdoor patio. All in a very special place and if your celebrating a milestone event a place I would highly recommend
