“Not Impressed”

The Hotel's own web site is a bit misleading: 1. The web site's home page states, "Each [room] is equipped with the finest comforts including air conditioning, TV, telephone, minibar, Internet connection, in-room safe and hair dryer." However, half of the rooms are in an adjoined building where there is NO internet or wifi access. At check-in, I was told that internet access was not guaranteed in the room because my Expedia reservation did not state it. Moreover, there is no internet access in the lobby area. Further, for those rooms that have internet access, the 24-hour price currently is very steep. 2. The pictures of the rooms on the hotel web site is misleading: None of the rooms shown on their site depict a single, single-bedded room, leading me to expect a much bigger room. My room was literally a single bed against a wall and a little more than the size of a single bed to walk around the room. 3. Bathroom amenities were poor: No kleenex or tissue box. Simple soap/shampoo OK, but providing such small amounts was a challenge to wash up with. (Those iddy, biddy, itsy, bitsy bars of soap don't last more than one shower.) 4. Request for an extra pillow at front desk was only fulfilled the second day. 5. Breakfast is served for only two hours a day (7:30 to 9:30 am) 6. Day front desk clerk chatted on phone for 10 minutes while I waited in front of him Having stayed in at least 5 other hotels in Florence over the years, this hotel was the worst value for money.

“Good location, but not much else”

At checkin we found that the hotel was overbooked. We were placed in a larger room which required us to move to the smaller one the following day. The receiptionist was not very apologetic and told us we should be glad he did not send us to a different hotel. I now wish he did. The hotel location is good, a 10 minute walk will get you to most tourist sites. Breakfast was included, but the breakfast room was too small for the number of hotel guests. Bread was generally several days old and the choice of other items was very limited. Coffee line was long and the coffee machine created what was with no doubt the worst coffee you will drink in Italy. If you come by car, get ready to pay very steep parking rates (in my case they charged thirty euro per night). In summary, other than good location this hotel does not have much else to offer.

“Nice hotel but do not expect quiet”

Nice hotel, but most rooms face on to an inner courtyard. Kids stay up drinking wine and making noise until 1 AM, numerous calls to front desk. The front desk does not limit the hours people can hang out there. Can't close windows because there is no AC in the month of May. Otherwise nice for the price.

“Florence Bienalle”

we took 3 rooms for ourselves & family from Brasil & Washington,DC ,for the 9 days of the Florence Bienalle of Contemporary Art,December,2009.Everything about the Donatello worked very well for all of us....friendly,helpfull reception & breakfast staff.our car was wisked away & appeared again as requested. very good value. excellent location .

“real quality for the money”

I was overall impressed with the Hotel Donatello. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The breakfast was good quality and the expresso was extremely good! The only thing I found to be a little different is the front desk controls when the A/C is turned on.Very good place to stay!

“Gutes Hotel für Städtereise”

Wir waren für 4 Tage im Donatello. Das Haus ist älter, aber in einem guten Zustand. Die Zimmer sind jedoch sowohl von der Größe, als auch Möblierung und Lage sehr unterschiedlich. Wir hatten nach dem Einchecken festgestellt, dass wir in einem Mini-Zimmer ohne Fenster (nur Oberlicht) untergebracht werden sollten. Nach kurzer Reklamation an der Rezeption wurde uns aber umgehend ein schönes, großes Zimmer zur Verfügung gestellt. Der Frühstücksraum ist etwas klein, das Frühstück typisch italienisch, es gabe aber immer Schinken, Käse, Brötchen, Croissants, Marmelade, Honig, Butter, Joghurt und Müsli. Das Hotel ist altersbedingt sehr hellhörig, auch die Zimmer zu den Nachbarräumen. Ansonsten aber ist die Umgebung zentral, dennoch ruhig, und man ist in knapp 10 Minuten am Bahnhof.

Camera grande e molto pulita. Il letto matrimoniale era fatto da due letti singoli neppure tenuti insieme da un coprimaterasso.Scomodissimi.

“hotel Donatello - vicino borgo san lorenzo e mercato centrale”

L'Hotel tutto sommato per trascorrere un week end può andare bene ma non bisogna essere troppo esigenti. Le camere sono abbastanza grandi e comode anche se la nostra avrebbe avuto bisogno di una bella riverniciata ai muri e un po' più di cura nella pulizia. L'accoglienza e il servizio alla hall son professionali e gentili.
