Hôtel enchanteur
Un séjour enchanteur dans cet hôtel idyllique, certes loin du centre, (environ 12 euros en taxi) mais dans un cadre totalement bucolique. Tout, du bâtiment XVII à la décoration incroyable, du personnel aux petits soins à la gastronomie, de la chambre aux feux de cheminée dans tous les salons, était placé sous le signe de la perfection. Probablement, le plus bel hôtel qui m'est été donné de découvrir.

Le lieu magnifique, le caractère de l établissement, la beauté de la décoration. Déçue par une pression d eau inexistante, donc 3 jours ou je n ai pu prendre de ‘’douche’’ qu avec un tt petit filet d eau sans même utiliser du savon! Quand on a finalement décidé de me changer de chambre, il n à même pas été proposé un geste commercial à la note finale pourtant bien salée.

Excellent rapport qualité prix pour un séjour luxe
Chambre de style "grand siècle" très agréable même si les fenêtres sont un peu petites (et donc ambiance un peu sombre dans la chambre, mais très romantique). Déco recherchée et originale. Dîner très agréable et service impeccable. Très beau parc à l'anglaise avec paons, écureuils, jeu de croquet, golf... le tout niché d'une manière assez étonnante dans un quartier résidentiel de la banlieue d'Edimbourgh. Un gros coup de coeur !

Relaxing festive break
Such a friendly welcome at this stunning hotel. Stayed in December so the festive decorations were out and stunning. Room was extremely comfortable with so many luxurious finishes and touches. We dined at on site Rhubard restaurant and whilst a delicious meal, found the service not as attentive as it could have been. But this was specific to the restaurant and not general to the hotel.

Really lovely. Staff were excellent, taking great care of myself and my dog Teddi, especially at meal times so that I didn't have to leave Teddi in the car while I ate. My only very minor observation was the bed being so high. Needed steps to climb in. However an excellent stay, grounds great for taking dog for a walk. Would definitely stay again.

This property was absolutely stunning. Its location close to everything in the old city, and yet in a secluded, tranquil environment is perfect. The food was excellent and the service was top-notch. Nothing was too much trouble for the staff. We arrived early in the day after an overnight flight from Canada and they were so accommodating. While our room was not ready, which was not unexpected we were served a lovely breakfast. Our bags were taken care of, and when we arrived back from town, around 1:30 they made every effort to get our room ready as soon as possible. We will go back in a heartbeat and highly recommend Prestonfield House.

So extravagant, it's like walking onto the set of a Pride and Prejudice film! It's literally a service-obsessed hotel in every way without comparison. An environment of pure grandeur and comfort! An incredible collection of antique furniture, swathes of fabric wallpaper, plush curtains-the pillows are fluffy the lighting is soft and moody, and the housekeeping is second to none! Best night's sleep I've had in years! The food is unparalleled! I had a yogurt made with honey from local bees which live on the property! The rhubarb was also grown on the property and like nothing I ever tasted or will ever taste again! My son, who is a picky eater, said the salmon was so delicious, he felt like he died and went to hotel heaven! Every detail was painstakingly attended to. I made a brief mention of forgetting my umbrella, and no less than two seconds later, a hotel staff member handed me one before I jetted away in the cab they had called for me! I felt like a queen!

Great stay!
Was brilliant. Service, personnel and room was amazing.
In this dining room have sat Benjamin Franklin, Dr Samuel Johnson and James Boswell, Sir Winston Churchill, and the Queen Mother. The painted panels are those from mid-18th century.
In the beautiful yellow drawing room opposite the dining room, the Queen Mother used to sit in the chair below the mirror to have a champaign, as her helicopter could land in the grounds.

A Real 5 Star Hotel
Totally amazing hotel, the staff especially Jennie on reception was so very nice and very helpful. The whole experience and ambience of this truly 5 Star Hotel in Edinburgh was first class in every way. We have stayed in hotels all over the world, and I would say The Prestonfield, is on par with the luxury Hotels in Dubai. It's the best hotel we have stayed in the UK. Nothing was too much trouble for ANY of the staff. Still smiling at their warmth and friendliness, they truly make you feel at home. Could not fault anything. Thank you Mr Thomson for sharing your lovely creation with us. If you do go, Jennie and the one of the managers, (whose name I forget - sorry), will give you a lovely history lesson of how the Hotel emerged into what it is today. 5 Stars all the way !! Thank you, and we will be back !!

This was one of the best places I have ever stayed. Luxurious, comfortable, and opulent. The staff were so attentive and lovely. I wanted to spend all my time at the hotel. I will most likely visit again. The attention to all the details sets the bar high for every other boutique hotel. Oh and the history. Swoon and smitten!
